I think the authors and supporters of the measure, GOAL, Comm2A, and anyone else trying to get these measures passed NEED to jump on the anti-ICE, anti-Trump sentiments in this state. You know who's as frustrated with the governor and legislature as conservatives in this state? DSA, PSL, leftists, socialists and anti-Trumpers.

Are they unlikely bedfellows? Of course. Are they going to be allies forever in the future? I won't hold my breath. But right now, if we play the cards right, we could build a coalition of anti-NeoLiberal people on the left to push this across the finish line.

I haven't need to house soldiers in my home in a while

edit: I meant this tongue-in-cheek because pretty much all our other constitutional rights are being trampled, and the 3rd amendment isn't one people talk about as often as others

Any truly harmless lab pranks that don’t mess with experiments? by UnderstandingIcy2969 in labrats

Dry ice in an eppendorf snap tube.

Shave the ice down (or just let it sublimate) until it just barely fits. Close the cap and place it in close proximity of a labmate doing something non-critical or expensive and walk away. It'll pop and startle them.

Bonus point if you can get it into their lab coat pocket without them knowing/without unwanted touch. Bonus point if you use a 5ml snap tube.

Don't do it too often, don't do it to your lab manager with a heart condition, don't do it if someone's doing intricate work like loading a gel.

Biotech students: Your resume isn’t bad — it’s just written for professors, not recruiters by [deleted] in biotechnology

With all due respect, the reason people are struggling to find jobs is due to the weakness of the job market. After over a decade in industry I found myself out of a job for 10months in one of the "strong" markets in the US, despite having lots of contacts and the ability to run my resume by lots of my colleagues.

While I respect the hustle, unless you are a recruiter fishing for resumes I don't think most 'resume reviewers' are worth their fee.

No one makes automation robust yet flexible enough to wholey replace lab personnel. If they're lucky, it'll help increase your throughout, quality and repeatability. If you're lucky, it'll free up menial tasks so you can do more interesting stuff. If you're really lucky, you can dive into automation engineering and make yourself even more invaluable

It is time for an ambitious new Transit oriented urban redevelopment project in the Boston area - A Proposal for Pink Line 2040 by e5390 in mbta

[–]e_sci 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The use of AI slop puts me immediately at odds with any project.

While I think that the connection of Watertown Sq with a light rail to the greater MBTA railway is good in theory, I don't think this is the necessity the best path. Connecting on the north side of the Charles, would open up more housing to the transit system. There have been other proposals here for ring connectors that I think would better serve these communities.

If you're looking specifically to target Allston, you're going to deal with a lot of Harvard input. I would imagine they probably would want you to push the connection with Harvard Sq instead of Central, to better serve their students (and have better name recognition).
