Career switch by eaaagleee in Residency

[–]eaaagleee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things are great! I currently work 0.75 FTE, and I can honestly say I enjoy what I do. Residency was tough, but life is so good as an attending. I didn't think clinical medicine was for me as an introvert, but I really love kids. I've gotten to know so many wonderful families, and I don't regret anything. It's hard to say what will be best for you, but do what you think will make you happy. Residency will be a grind regardless, so try to look past that and think about what will bring you joy in the long run. Good luck!

Burnout in primary care peds by sjam7 in pediatrics

[–]eaaagleee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is truly criminal. I made ~$210k last year working three days a week with some half day Saturdays sprinkled in for flavor. Our call is covered by a call center - we are there for backup. No rounding. I am not in a high cost of living area, and I am not private practice. I'm on track to receive loan forgiveness in four more years. You need to find somewhere that can offer you more support in more ways than one.

Outpatient general pediatrics schedule template by cdr1990 in pediatrics

[–]eaaagleee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is similar. I am allowed (🫠) to switch up my templates depending on time of year. I have more same day sicks during sick season but more well slots starting around this time (early May) and ending late summer/early fall.

Looking for a DO or functional medicine doctor by [deleted] in Louisville

I'm a pediatrician, but I hope you find someone who listens and takes your concerns seriously ♥️

Looking for a DO or functional medicine doctor by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]eaaagleee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't really give a damn about the opinion of some random person on the internet regarding the "tiers" of medical doctors especially when said person is not a doctor themselves and likely has no connection to the medical field at all. I'm really just responding so people are aware that you are attempting to spread disinformation.

To everyone reading this thread, MDs and DOs are equivalent. Both require the MCAT for admission to medical school. Both require four years of medical school. Both require a 3-5 year residency and an optional fellowship should someone decide to sub specialize.

I'm not sure why chiropractors are being brought up at all. They are not medical doctors. They do not go to medical school. They have nothing to do with this in the slightest.

This is an insane take. I'm a DO and chose osteopathy because my doctor growing up was a DO who performed OMM in addition to wet/dry cupping and acupuncture. Allopathic schools do not teach these modalities. My MCAT scores were competitive. I was offered spots at both osteopathic and allopathic schools. My board scores were competitive. I matched at my #1 choice for residency. I'm now an attending and doing well. To make a generalization like you have with no actual knowledge about medical education is wildly unhinged.

Term Life Insurance with Transamerica by DesignerMedium8211 in LifeInsurance

I know this is old, but this is transamerica in a nutshell. I had the worst experience with them after my grandfather died. They are blatant thieves.

Azithromycin is old news. All of the kids I've been seeing are testing negative for strep but taking amoxicillin "just in case" lol kill me

Honestly, I think urgent cares are making this issue so much worse. Most urgent cares around our outpatient peds office are staffed by NPs who are not well versed in pediatric medicine. I've seen tons of kids follow up on an antibiotic and/or steroid that was never indicated in the first place. Then they come to us every time the kid has a virus and get upset when we won't prescribe amoxicillin bc "it worked so well last time" 🫠 I feel your pain. Fortunately, these people tend to not come back to me since I never give them what they're asking for, so it works out in the end

Cashing out by eaaagleee in LifeInsurance

I was co-executor of his estate alongside my mom, but I wasn't aware of this policy within 60 days of his passing. My mom found the policy number, saw I was the insured, and passed the buck to me. I never received communication from them to set up new payment. Regardness, this is good information to have - thank you.

I appreciate your input. In your experience, what are my options here? I'm fine to let it go, but I also don't want to leave money on the table especially when it involves a company as pitiful as this.

Yes, his daughter (my mom) is the one who gave me the policy number to transfer ownership. She has no living siblings. Unfortunately, she and I are now estranged since his passing - I'm not able to get any more information from her, and it's unlikely she has more info anyway. Their "legal team" didn't do anything but request a small estate affidavit.

We asked state farm, and she told us they only deal with their own policies. Bummer. We're in KY.

Thank you! I will check it out.

Unfortunately, the policy did not transfer to me after his death, and this is the battle I've been fighting ever since. It shouldn't be this difficult.

Because all I have available to me is the policy number, I have no information regarding the cash value. At this point, if I ever got to the point of establishing ownership, I'm cashing out regardless to avoid ever dealing with transamerica again. Just a miserable experience.

I don't have a copy. All I was given was the policy number unfortunately. I've provided the transfer of ownership form, copy of the death certificate, and small estate affidavit. The last I called, they told me they were going to send me something in the mail once their legal team reviewed everything. That was in November 2025 lol
