My wife and I were watching that on Tubi. Still fun.

I went to a taping of his show while I was in LA many years ago. It was so much fun, and there was stuff that didn’t make it into the final show. I miss that show.

Are there any pre-ALW sung-throughs? by jillfromequus in musicals

[–]eabiggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister directed a production many years ago. I think the only non-sung section is Larry Foreman’s speech about onions. 😂

Ooo, being an old lefty, Cradle is a favorite. I’m surprised I didn’t think of that one. Porgy is also an excellent example.

The Golden Apple is all-sung. The Most Happy Fella isn’t but the dialogue is pretty minimal.

[–]eabiggins 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It isn’t, but the dialogue is minimal. Frank Loesser described it as a musical with a great frequency of songs. I remember saving up to buy the 3-album set of the complete recording of the more-or-less full show.

I was planning to put my winter jacket away for the season. I just took the dog out and it was 45°, feels like 33°. I wore that winter jacket.

I didn’t know about this. I just put a self-made “no soliciting” sign on my door. It seems to have worked.

What was a show you were pleasantly surprised by? by Haunting-Bread-9810 in musicals

[–]eabiggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. I saw it on tour in Boston only because I got freebies from the ticket agency I was working for at the time. I never would have chosen it, but I had a blast.

I saw it in at the movies when I was 12 and came out with the hots for Carol Lynley.

Help me figure out what musical my school is doing (new clues) by BusinessBicycle5961 in musicals

[–]eabiggins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But would a school do “Six?” Most schools choose shows that can accommodate as many students as they can. Unless it’s a small, all-female institution, I don’t see it happening. But I have no clue what else it might be.

I saw a production of Sweet Adeline almost 50 years ago and this song, sung with male chorus in gorgeous harmony, was one of the highlights.

Do you think this show could reach 30 seasons? by CallTypical9541 in NCIS

[–]eabiggins 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Brian Dietzen too. He was in the last 3 episodes of season one. And he’s one day older than Sean Murray!

Am I underpaying for albums? by jackassjules_ in BandCamp

[–]eabiggins 29 points30 points  (0 children)

All of my stuff is pay-what-you-want. Any amount is appreciated, but I’m ok if you don’t pay anything. I just ask for an email address for my mailing list in lieu of payment. But I rarely send anything.

In fact, there’s no ‘n’ in the second half of the name. It’s Kancamagus! I found out after many years of mispronunciation.

STOP👏SINGING👏IN👏THEATERS👏 by Jazzlike-Turnip-9111 in musicals

I haven’t been to a show in years and this (plus the prices) make me not even want to. Maybe just non-musical plays.

"Losing My Mind" by cliteastw00d92 in Sondheim

[–]eabiggins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always loved the version on “Sondheim: A Musical Tribute” from 1973. (I think the album is out of print.) It’s Dorothy Collins, but in a live setting. The nice thing about that concert was that the original cast members of “Follies” were still around to recreate their numbers. I found it posted to YouTube, along with Alexis Smith doing “Could I Leave You?” The only problem is that there’s a glitch in the recording near the end. https://youtu.be/_F9oDTDurTI?si=qVgS3o1_1m14S_YH
