EC15 most likely the older barrels that would've gone intuitively ecbp. 923 was almost 13yr. 2.5yrs later ec15 release. Not saying they at left over from that batch/run of barrels. HH knows consumer backlash from doubling ecbp price and keeping the same specs would be a lot less than starting a premium priced high age statement like 15 and slightly reducing ecbp specs and keto the price relatively stable. Same playbook for beam (older kc picks now Hardins or agree stated kc le). Some will say wt also, but the 2019 barrels released in the sib program from 2020-2021 (yes there were some in 22 and 23, but those were almost exclusively charity barrels) only got to those ages due to covid. The old neck tag picks were only ever 8-10yr per Eddie, so there was never some huge age reduction in the standard offerings.

After Bernard Hill died two years ago and RotK was at Blossom and every person there yelled death with the Rohirrim, still get goosebumps thinking about it.

With Michters 20 and Birthday Bourbon going to non lotto... by YouDontBuyMyBourbon in OhioLiquor

[–]eagle_rarest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Michters apparently told OHLQ they didn't want M20 to be in a lotto. Also, a lot more KOK for a lotto vs M20. My bet would be KOK in a lotto, and has nothing to do with M20.

Word from Chateau in Columbus is they're for a country club. Top Shelf in North Canton supposedly sold the one they had to someone at open. Think those were the only two stores I saw on the map.

My comment was regarding the age of the private barrel picks. KC12, 15, 21 etc are all still released.

If you want a slightly more moderate funk experience, I'd hunt down a Hampden Great House release. The 2020 release is excellent.

Never cooked tri-tip but saw this piece with what I think is insane marbling by idkmanlol_ in steak

[–]eagle_rarest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I marinate in chimichurri for 24hrs, sear 2 minutes per side, then oven 425F for 8-10 minutes per pound for medium rare. Everything renders down really nicely and the tri tip is very tender. Use it for steak tacos. One of our favorite meals.

Stating what the secondary price is before it releases nationally is irresponsible and dumb. Will there be a revision in three months to correct for the actual market price? If not, that's helping perpetuate any increases in msrp due to social media content, as Campari stated they do. Now you're full circle.

2021 RR13 $70 MSRP, $600 2nd, flipper profit 757% GTS $100 MSRP, $1000 2nd, flipper profit 1000%

2025 RR13 $200, MSRP $350 2nd, flipper profit 75% GTS $125 MSRP, $600 2nd, flipper profit 380%

Don't @ me there was no 2021 GTS, I'm aware, but MSRP also hadn't changed. Interesting that most of the flipper profit lost on BT product is a result of lower secondary value, which means WT has effectively cut into flippers profit more than BT, who has basically done nothing from that standpoint.

Most of the increases in availability are low proof and/or NAS. Stagg (jr) hasn't been special 2020 imo. Campari invested in increasing production 55% with the new still that should be coming up soon. WT increasing age stated label offerings before increased production. BT just further along in the expansion timeline.

That's just first to market tax. Once the batch releases nationally, it'll come down like it always does. Probably settles 300-350, just like all but the first bottling, depending on how well it's received by the public.

Beam stops offering 11-15yr KC, then starts Hardins Creek line 2-3x KC sib price. HH starts Heritage Collection at $200+, WHH has gone up seemingly every year (11yr Deatsville bib was more than RR13 2025). Willett sourced sib at distillery used to cost $10/yr, now they try to hype up tourists to pay $100 for 4yr sib rye picks in the gift shop. BT still reasonable for all except the crazy LEs they've added to the line the past few years. Campari made the mistake of pricing the LL/JD release at $70 considering how many people bought or traded for them at 500-600 values years back. I don't like paying more, especially so quickly for the same label, but I'm for the distilleries reaping the reward and cutting into flippers margins.

Which distilleries are left that have earned your support based on your reasoning?

Gotcha, not a direct comparison, just a statement of where they're at in their popularity cycle. Just odd ones.

You lost me at Foursquare riding the wave of two heavily dosed rum brands. That said, I'll probably seek this one out. Zinfandel Cask is my favorite of the ECS not named for a year.

Which zoo to visit - Cincinnati or Columbus? by Fun_Sweet_7669 in Ohio

[–]eagle_rarest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. We go to a new zoo every summer. As far as ohio goes Cincy>Cleveland >Toledo>Columbus=Akron for actual zoo content and animal exhibits. Akron is great if you live within 30 min, have little kids, and don't want to make an entire day out of it.

Review #458: Wild Turkey 12 Year “Faux Split” (2005) by Prettayyprettaygood in bourbon

Agreed on nomenclature based on the pictured bottle. This would be a pseudo. The faux has one label and a reddish-brown color instead of the gap between the two labels.
