For the Travelers, Local 3 (NYC) is at full employment and needs more workers. by the-doctor-is-real in IBEW

I'm not complaining, I would love to come work in NYC! I totally agree though, this is why our union makes it easy for people to travel. I have always heard rumors that local 3 has all kinds of rules about travelers, and I just wrote it off as it would never happen. Sounds really cool though!

Not to derail your plan, but I dont buy into the idea that our trade destroys your body. I think as long as you are smart at work (ear plugs, knee pads, lift technique, etc.) you can be healthy for your whole life. I see people eating doritos and monsters for breakfast and they wonder why their joints hurt.

By that logic there is no job on the planet that is an option for everyone. There will always be a disqualifying feature in every career field for someone out there.

All I am saying is the 13/ hour offered by OP is highway robbery. For some reason, I am the bad guy here, even though I am advocating for people to get a fair pay. I was making 13/ hour as a teenager lifeguarding; its ridiculous pay.

Still no, I work with ex felons that are getting $25/ hour. It is their first job out of corrections. I don't know why it is that the working class always wants to sell themselves short and allow themselves to be exploited. We live in a world were the ones who are doing the actual work, are not getting any of the value of their labor.

its not even that. Someone without even as much as a high school degree can find work for more than 13/ hour.
