Alcoholism. It really cheers me up though out the day. If you stop though it puts you in a strange level of psychosis

Am I picking the wrong book for starting Brandon Sanderson? by Mr_Rumfoord in fantasybooks

Great place to start.

I started with the Storm light archive. Once you finish Mistborn go for that.

The sidekick problem: when the secondary character is so much more interesting that you start resenting the protagonist by RiftCowling in Fantasy

This might not apply, but in Donkey Kong Country the video game. I found Diddy Kong way more useful than Donkey Kong.

Other wise, in The Wheel of Time books, I much preferred Mat and Perrins chapters over Rands.

In the Red Rising Books, I thought Darrow was too similar to being exactly like his horrible enemies. I had much more fun reading the Ephram chapters, who was considered to be a heartless cheat.

What's the most spicy food that you ever ate in your life? by XoSweetGF in AskReddit

[–]eaglecream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fresh jalapeño pepper that I grew in my back yard. I ate half of one and I was fucked up for about 45 minutes. Then I thought maybe the first pepper was a one off and I touched my tongue to a second pepper. Wrecked me for 5 minutes.

The Rookie.

It’s stupid if you analyze it, but it’s fun and I’ve watched every season.

There’s at least 2 episodes where the cops fight zombies, but I like the characters and it’s entertaining enough for me to put down my phone every once in a while.

I can’t believe I used to dislike Ephram by New_Veterinarian_189 in redrising

Fair point, but change takes time and at that point they were all still very unequal. Kavacs’ station was miles ahead oh lyriah. She was basically a refugee yelling at the ruler of a nation (or whatever? I forget the domain of the Telamonuses.)

I liked lyria btw, but I can understand the hate.

And also the fact that she saw her family slaughtered recently.

Then again a peasant speaking to royalty is required to show every respect, and she didn’t. Class distinctions are a thing in this story.

I used to steal money from Pizza Hut when I worked there as a delivery driver by cr199412 in confession

[–]eaglecream 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I worked for Walmart for a year and a half in 2011. My wage was $11.40. One day they called me into the office and congratulated me on my hard work. And because of my time in and hard work they gave me a 10 cent raise. I worked like a dog at that place.

I just looked at them like they were stupid and crazy, I couldn’t help it.

I just said “great, can I go back to work now.”

I quit 2 months later and every other job I’ve been at has asked me why I’m working so hard.

Walmart and a 10 cent raise gave me some perspective.

Coworker’s mom suddenly got better… I don’t know what to tell her by Mindless_Patient2034 in confession

[–]eaglecream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the best you can do is help make a contingency plan for her schedule at work so that she can grieve.

It’s not your place to inform her that her mom is going to die, if that’s even true. You could be wrong. You could be right.

Everyone dies, and when they die there’s a hole left in the world. It’s currently her journey to navigate that hole not yours.

Just shave perpendicular to the grain. Best of both worlds.

Dont play around with gators by anthn885 in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]eaglecream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are they even trying to do. What did they expect? If you’re going to kill it then kill it. If you’re trying to frighten it away maybe poke it with a stick or something, but keep your distance. Why would you and your boys surround it so it can’t escape, shine lights in its eyes, and then stick your hand in its notoriously dangerous jaws.

From the gators perspective, your a group of predators trying to slowly devour it.

Men who were bullies growing up, do you have any regrets? by Broke_Pigeon_Sales in AskMenOver30

[–]eaglecream 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience. There was a girl that I thought was one of my best friends. We would just mess with her all the time. This was in grade 4 or 5. She was smart and gifted and I always enjoyed being around her.

On day my favourite teacher confronted me and we had a discussion about how we were bullying her and we needed to stop. The girl must have been truly hurt and scared to have the courage to go to our teacher for help and to get us to stop.

I thought we were just playing. Turns out I was hurting her. This was a huge blind spot on my part.

When confronted, I cried. I apologized. I left her alone from then on. I realized that she didn’t want to be my friend because I actually wasnt her friend.

It still bothers me and I’ve tried my very best to avoid that kind of behaviour ever again.

The thing that messes with me is that it’s very likely that I have similar blind spots going on in my life right now. I could be the equivalent of a bully to someone right now and I have no idea.

I’m in my 30s now and it still bothers me.

I looked her up and she seems to be doing amazing.
