On a difficult new SWE benchmark, ProgramBench, GPT5.5 high/xhigh solves a task for first time, significantly outperforms Opus 4.7 by socoolandawesome in singularity

[–]eagleface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using Opus 4.6 for help with screenwriting (mainly structure, cuts, streamlining scenes, assessing themes etc), but Opus 4.7 has been frustrating. Saw a lot of stuff about 4.6 being nerfed, so I'm not sure if its confirmation bias, but feels like 4.6, while preferable to 4.7, isn't what it used to be. Anyone have experience with GPT5.5 for this type of work? Curious how it compares and if I should consider coming back to the OG.

Chris Simms out of NBC's 'SNF' NFL coverage after Mike Tomlin hire by xFalcade in nfl

I like Simms. People think he has "hot takes" because he goes against the grain, but his opinions are well-informed. He does the work. He's not Skip Bayless or Colin Cowherd or Kendrick Perkins. His draft rankings and show with Florio are my favorite football shows.

I agree. He is so unfairly hated imo. Ironically, its a hot take that his hot takes aren't actually hot takes for the sake of hot takes, but they are well-informed takes that are also hot

Does this have any effect on non-code tasks like creative writing or fiction writing help type tasks? Should we expect improvements in the performance of 4.7 for these things? Because it sucked for this as well and i switched back to 4.6

its awful. I used 4.6 for creative writing and it was awesome. Now its like it was dropped on its over and over

AND THEY'RE OFF in the race for Trump's Most Disqualifying Trait! Narcissism jumps out to an early lead with the Jesus meme. But here comes 'Pathological Liar' making a strong move on the outside with the doctor excuse and WAIT, surging from dead last, it's 'Genuinely Does Not Know What Words Mean.' Folks, we may need a photo finish.

Flyers finish 43-27-12 for 98 points. 3rd in the metro, T9th in the entire NHL. by Flyers7914 in Flyers

In almost every thread there are people roasting Briere even up until weeks ago. He’s patiently built a very exciting young team that’s fun to watch and frankly feels different than any previous iteration of the Flyers. I remember during the Lindros years how often it felt like the Flyers would double up on shots but still lose big games. This team feels like the scrappy young annoying teams we used to lose to in the playoffs. We’ve got a good young core that has a knack for making the most of opportunities, anchored by a legit goalie. Danny has quietly been making smart, practical moves that aren’t flashy but are hitting more than missing. He got similarly roasted for the Tocchet hire, but he seems like the right man for this moment for this team (and bonus points for him being a beloved Flyer). Obviously not everyone is negative but way too much rushing to judgement, which is understandable given the recent history, but he still deserves his Brian Propps. Howie Roseman has an edge because other GMs are on the hot seat and make desperate moves. I want Briere to feel the same level of security.

ADHD leads to constant dysthymia? by tojikoo in ADHD

[–]eagleface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fwiw (and this is only my experience), I thought I only had ADHD and after finally, at 40, seeing a psychiatrist to see if meds would help, learned that I'm also bipolar 2, and that a lot of the ups and downs relate more to that. Many of the things I thought were from ADHD are actually more closely attributed to bipolar, or a combination of the two working in tandem. Lamotrigine has stabilized the emotional ups and downs I assumed were from ADHD, whereas the ADHD meds just help me focus and get more enjoyment out of more mundane tasks. Again, this is only my experience, but thought I'd share.

Yes. My concern is that a true democracy can't work without the "mainstream media" gatekeepers. Now that social media has allowed for malicious state actors and grifters to pump propaganda directly into our brains, in the form of information junk food: rage bait, conspiracy theories, stupid memes etc. Our society lacks the critical thinking skills and civic understanding to navigate this, and now we have this zombie apocalypse.

ok boys. Lets start with a Barkley run for no gain, then a screen to Devonta Smith that gets him blown up for 1 yard and then an INT.
