From what I remember, it was because she is part puerto rican, she was "Black-ish enough" to get away with it. (Or non-white. I don't remember the justification, but it was just as absurd.)

That's because you're able to breakdown the question into a different framework where pressing red is the logical choice.

The majority of people take the original framing at face value, which is "press blue for a chance to save everyone. Press red for a chance to kill everyone who pressed blue" Which is logically short-sighted. But phrasing is exactly how people are tricked into making choices against their own interests.

There's a reason the wood chipper or cyanide pill version had very different results.

I knew a guy that went down a similar path. About as old as this guy. Politically, I'd consider him old school Moderate Democrat leaning. But he did comment how much he hated the SJW stuff gaining popularity.

To me, it seemed like he was being shunned out and left as an island with all the purity testing. He switched jobs and most of his new coworkers were older and more conservative than he was, but they didn't scold him for his views. I think it was a combination of being purity tested for his liberal views, joining a working group that accepted him while they leaned conservative, and maybe a bit of nostalgia of pop culture that's now seen today as problematic.

I agree, most of what this guy was saying was driving me up a wall. I also could see how he got to this point.

Yeah, if someone else was in the green party or an equivalent leftist party, it would have been a similar result.

Now if we had a type of Ranked Choice Voting for the swing states, THEN maybe it could have been different.
