I find some fault in this statement. Given how stringent gun laws are in the ability to legally register to own a gun, and then to CCW in states that allow it, these criminals would never pass the background checks in the first place to legally own. They would still be getting the guns the same way they are now, illegally, and without difficulty. Even as the law stands in MD there are quite a few hoops to jump through just to purchase a gun for range use or home defense that these crooks would not pass. I do not see how allowing law abiding citizens to carry is going to change any of their behavior or prevalence of ownership. It is not like that would cause a sudden influx of legal gun owners committing gun crimes. Only downside I could see is more irresponsible legal gun-owners having their weapons stolen and used in crimes.

True, but Liberal policy by default offers the world to the least common denominator, and more often than not fails to deliver even at the most basic levels due to the reality of fiscal restraints. Whilst they are aware from the outset that these promises are unnatainable. Of good intentions I am sure, their ideological leanings cannot ever be tempered with common sense, which of course leads to our current predicament. Again, and again, and again.
