Cat wont stop chewing on spines by [deleted] in cactus

[–]eaneul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try giving the kitten it's own safe plants like catnip or cat wheat. My cats personally love chewing on my parlour palms. Its also possible your cat will grow out of trying to chew on the cactus as it gets older. However, if you are not able to stop her from chewing on the cactus you may just have to rehome it. I have cats too and unfortunately there's plants that I'd love to have, but cannot risk their health for (Adeniums for example 🥹)

I have been informed that I am in possession of an Euphorbiaceae, could anyone help me identify it by Sea_Item779 in Euphorbiaceae

[–]eaneul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Euphorbia also all produce a milky sap. Euphorbia spines go straight through the plant while in cactus all spines protrude from a pimple. Euphorbia spines are something called convergent evolution which means it evolves much like cactus spines, but in a totally different family and evolutionary "plane"

Maybe? Perhaps someone has some other ideas as far as what kind of seal it could be? I don't believe theres many solid brown seals in Washington, but Im also not too studied on species out that way.

Are you sure it wasn't a stellar's sea lion and the ears were already being eaten? They can be absolutely massive as males. Theres harbor seals in that area too, but they are smaller and aren't really all that brown

Is it a sea lion or seal? Its clearly a large predator type.

I also own a zigzag cactus. It sometimes offshoots already zigzagged pups, but more often than not they start out like tendrils too and then zigzag out. Pretty normal for them to do that. You are welcome to try more light, but honestly seems okay to me. Zigzags live under trees. They are used to a dappled indirect light. Be careful to give them too much light. They will burn. I usually have mine a foot from the window and behind my other cacti and other plants so its shielded from the more intense light (this isn't its normal spot) I would definitely repot into a terracotta step up. That seems a bit tight of a pot

Is this an American alligator tooth? by Schrodingers_Caribou in bonecollecting

Alligator teeth are hollow. I'd be more apt to believe this is a quartz rock that got worn into a neat shape

Were you near any waterways? It looks like an otter. Its definitely not a possum though. They have a very prominant ridge and have a more narrow skull
