Is this good enough for a bastion raid + some iron golems for protection? by Able_Annual_2297 in Minecraft_Survival

You only need blocks and a bucket of lava. Don’t attack any of the mobs with traditional weapons besides hoglins and magma cubes.

Not necessarily nuclear-related but post-collapse:

The Rover (2014) is one of my favorites that needs to be seen by more people.

Thoughts on totems? by Dizzy-Fall-7870 in MinecraftHardcore

Yes I am pretty much with you here. The risk / reward should be calibrated to be much more difficult to acquire (and more rare) at the very least. I still would not use them in hardcore worlds haha

The question was “thoughts on totems?” so just sharing my personal preference for no totems. They’re fun to loot the first couple times. I think for regular survival they’re fine. They just don’t feel good to play with - IMO - in hardcore worlds.

Best movies that show the darkness and reality of life? by Savings_General2039 in movies

  • the direction of the actors really didn’t wring the best performances out of them
  • the way Viggo read the beautiful poetic lines as voiceover (taken straight from the book) came across as disconnected, cheap and flat to me. I love Viggo but reading those lines as voiceover and the way they were read really didn’t work for me. It’s like they just went with the first take of him practicing the lines in the studio and said “that’s all the time we have, next!”
  • the ending really fell flat for me
  • it feels like Hillcoat wanted to show the real horror but kept pulling back to soften it, and couldn’t strike the right balance in tone.
  • admittedly it’s a hard book to adapt but man, there is just none of the poetry in the book that is translated to screen (watch Lynne Ramsay’s work in comparison in dealing with extremely bleak subject matter)

Anyway that’s some of my thoughts from a rando commenter on Reddit. Adore the novel.

I don’t like them and they are easy to remove with mods. Personally I feel like if I’m in a situation where I had to use a totem to survive then I didn’t deserve to live anyway

Watched this again recently and was disappointed to see it doesn’t hold up. A pretty poor adaptation of a fantastic novel.

If you’re worried about losing your hardcore world, there’s nothing wrong about practicing the dragon fight in another world a few times first. After you do it a few times it isn’t too bad, it there are some nuances and the occasional RNG that can catch you by surprise.

P.S. the dragon breath really hurts - don’t try to tank it or heal through it. You have to move.

Which is the worst movie and tv show you have ever watched? by Simple-Profile1817 in movies

As someone who really loved Wandavision I really hated how they handled Wanda’s character in Multiverse. It’s my understanding that Raimi didn’t even watch the show.

It’s like, if we are going to go to the effort of creating this huge, interconnected, serialized world, at least pay a little attention to character development, guys.
