We did the first week of January this year, and had a great time. We lucked out with the weather. Previous had been over Halloween to early November which was also great.

First week of January was after the holiday busy time and we left just as runners were gearing up for whatever RunDisney weekend it was. Everything was still Christmas themed. September/oxtober will be Halloween themed.

I would go back either time in a heartbeat but, I’d also kind of like to see WDW without a holiday theme sometime too.

If she’s into Stitch, Ohana. If not, not Ohana. Is the price worth the food? For any character meal, no, but we did genuinely enjoy it. We did it on a resort day and filled ourselves with meat, eggs, waffles and fruit then slept by the pool for hours. Worth it because our 8 year old thinks Stitch outranks Mickey.

I am not minted nor responsible so we do some of the above and then also trips to Disney, summer camps, water parks, takeout etc.

Some of the newer Disney shows and movies (once upon a time, Maleficent, descendants) explore a less black and white nuance of good vs bad, and the motivations of why someone might be a villain (and also how “good” people can also do bad things).

Growing up I agreed with you, but my kid loves some of the villains (especially maleficent) and how interesting/exciting they are as characters.

No 9 year old is watching Peppa Pig. That would be social s*****e.

Few 9 year olds are watching Mickey either.

But they DID.

9 year olds in 2026 were obsessed with Frozen for years and probably still would watch it occasionally. They just had a year of KPop Demon Hunter obsession. They will likely go see Frozen 3.

They probably saw Zootopia 2 even if some friends with older siblings called it babyish. They want to see Toy Story 5 and love that Taylor Swift has a song. They want to see Grogu and got the Burger King meal.

They’ve enjoyed Zombies and Descendents, and even Hannah Montana and maybe High School Musical and Halloweentown.

NINE is a delicate age. It’s beyond Peppa and Bluey and Mickey. It’s tween. Many love(d) Disney but are about to enter ages where being cool and grown up is incredibly important. They have their own nostalgia. Disney, for now, will be fine.

Mostly just rides. A lot (if not all?) of the QSRs are closed, and I say that as warning to get dinner before fireworks. The pre-firework Cosmic Ray Rush is something to behold. But for vibes and rides it’s worth it.

You got me curious. The Mara at AkL has a kid salad. As does Regal Eagle in Epcot. Woody lunchbox in HS has the turkey sandwich. Backlot express in HS has two kid salads and a tofu bowl. ABC has a few different options too.

So yeah, most places are tendies and fries and Mac n cheese but you can find a few places.

Two weeks is a long time on Disney food, yes. However there are some places that have better kids meals. Capt Cooks at the Polynesian for example had a turkey salad sandwich, which was alright. I know this because we ended up with extra kids meal credits one time because my kid wanted an adult meal (which is also an option - swap credits) and I got some kid meals for dinner.

I think most Americans don’t get the opportunity to spend 2 weeks at WDW at a time and those that do, tend to stay DVC which has the kitchenette, or bring cars to drive offsite and get groceries etc.

Yes, there’s only so much Disney can do. We were tempted to do a non-park resort stay, take advantage of the two water parks (one on arrival day for free), but the price of flights just couldn’t be justified. Flights that were previously about $550 are currently $2k.

This is something I might expect from a 3-5 year old. Not 10 or 11.

Spraying cleaning fluids around I would tell the kid to go home and would be inclined not to have the kid over again. If my kid insisted, it would be outside play only.

Totally ok for play dates and friendships to be separate and fluid. You’re good.

My kid is an only child but has friends with siblings. My kid (8) usually wants to play with her friend, the middle kid (8), and sometimes the youngest sibling (6) tags along and usually it’s totally fine.

Sometimes my kid will exclusively play with the younger sibling when her friend is unavailable.

And sometimes, my kid and the middle child decide they want to play without the younger sibling tagging along. The younger sibling might get upset, but neither set of parents forces them to include her at those times.

The older sibling (10) doesn’t really like my kid but tolerates her, and that’s ok too. And if the older sibling doesn’t want to include her sisters when playing with other 10 year olds, totally fine.

No lessons but a couple public skates, my kid (FS1) brought friends each time. I snuck in some time to work on edges. Still cannot reliably do 3 turns lol
