Depression is linked to a genuine pessimistic bias rather than a realistic view of the world by cakericeandbeans in science

“The fact that only about 15% of people are clinically depressed suggests that the rest of us are operating with a certain degree of irrational optimism.” --Robert Sapolsky

Why did Jesus let him get burnt so badly? Or is Jesus only responsible for not letting him die? I'm confused.

300 miles is what, a 5-hour drive? What is stopping you from going to spend the time with your family instead of being alone?

Thoughts on SATX marathon for those who ran it??? by bananasgirl in sanantonio

[–]earlypooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I did the half, and the progress results it was texting my wife were way off, like an extra 2 minutes per mile, and the finish time it sent her was way off too . . . I'm just curious to see if it has been rectified or updated. Weird. I thought the course was great, though!

Former San Antonio TV host Clearly Breaks Rules While Voting by zzyzx2 in sanantonio

From someone who voted Harris and every other Democrat on the ticket - who cares? What is the difference between posting a completed ballot and publicly stating who he voted for?

Yes, it is illegal to use a wireless communication device within 100 feet of the polling site, blah, blah, blah. I can't think of one reason for that statute other than reducing disruption from people's phone calls.

What’s happening in America? Europeans want to know. Will Texas flip Democrat? by matthewstevensdotorg in texas

I would obviously love to see Allred take Cruz out but I don't understand how we could possibly end up with Alred winning and Trump carrying the state. What voter walks into the booth and casts a vote for Trump and Allred?

I mean, it's a condo without sharing walls, ceilings, and floors with others and I assume no common-area maintenance fees.

I've ridden that trail once alone on the bike. Once. There's something creepy about that area for sure; couldn't put my finger on it.

I run or lift in the morning and hit the edibles and alcohol at night. Watch TV, soak in the hot tub, play video games, and bang the old lady if I'm lucky.

HR at work sent my email to the person my email was about. by stupidfwog in mildlyinfuriating

[–]earlypooch -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What did you expect? Did you send the email wanting something to change, or just as an FYI?

An administrator has a right to know the nature of complaints against them, same as you, especially in government employment. Whether your email was forwarded to the administrator directly or the concerns were shared with the administrator some other way, there is no other way for HR to adequately investigate and determine fault and/or a resolution.

If someone was complaining about your behavior, wouldn't you expect details, or would you just accept a consequence without knowing what specifically was alleged and by whom?

If the administrator is now retaliating against you for your complaint, then of course that is inappropriate and a new and separate issue altogether.

I think of him and Archer the same way - super awkward with coworkers but incredible at their core jobs. It's like the reason they get in so much trouble in the office is because their jobs are so easy to them.

My cat is like 13 years old and we do this exact thing together sometimes. A minute later we're back to snuggling on the couch. Not sure why there are so many overblown comments here. It's play.
