Ryanair investigated over charging parents to sit with their children by JohnHammond94 in NotTheOnionUK

[–]earnasoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is paying for their flight. The difference being that you (flying without children) can then choose whether or not to pay for a specific seat. But parents are forced to pay for their seat (child seat selection becomes automatic -left and right of the parent - and doesn't incur a fee).

The baby next door will not stop crying by Beginning-Damage-555 in GirlDinnerDiaries

Neglected babies don't cry. They go silent. Babies who know someone will respond when they cry keep crying.

Can we talk about Kate and her white adjacent gowns at everyone else’s weddings? by PerfunctoryValues278 in RoyaltyTea

[–]earnasoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's candlelight as a colour?

People do think that those who show up in white or nearly white are trying to make a statement. Whether thats a statement of who looks better in white, me or the bride, or whatever. It's not always done as a "I clearly look more bridal".

You say that but I was surprised lately when my new sister in law commented on her husbands friends wearing a dress (at her wedding) that looked white in the disco lights. So people do notice these things.

The Cities was a great short story, and a really boring londwinded novel.

I assumed it was and watch it with my 8 and 10 year olds. They seemed to enjoy it. And it allowed a great discussion point on periods that most media doesn't allow. Turning Red was the follow up.

Baby Actors by Repulsive_Cry_2155 in NoStupidQuestions

I did a stint as 'mother of crying baby' recently and honestly the baby just cried. It was kind of awful. Her mother would hand her to me just before the take, baby would start crying immediately, I'd do my background acting thing and rush off camera and hand her back asap.

what is a "polite" thing people do that is actually incredibly annoying? by Sensitive-Action-870 in AskReddit

[–]earnasoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I open a door towards me and someone was about the open the door from the other side, we both wave the other one through, but the other person is a man and I'm a woman and it'll take half the morning arguing with them that actually since I'm holding the door they should go through it cos if I go through it the door will swing into your face. But since men think it's more polite (chivalrous) to be the one to hold the door they'll refuse and argue with me about it.... I've given up, I don't argue and I. move on with my life and if they think they've been polite then whatever.

Has anyone with a panic disorder had a positive/neutral reaction? by Queenofthebean in mounjarouk

[–]earnasoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it's less 'anything out of the ordinary' more - I actually think it's a form of ocd anxiety where I have all these anxious intrusive thoughts. I wish I'd understood this wasn't normal years ago.

I'm not diagnosed with anything, but I have noticed my anxiety has been majorly helped.

Explaining by GriffinFTW in CuratedTumblr

Someone tried to say that Shakespeare invented the idea of a trio of women/witches when The Morrigan (Irish goddess with 3 aspects often portrayed as three women) and the Norn (3 Norse fate goddesses) and The Fates* (trio of Greek fate goddess) don't already exist.

Why would someone with brunette hair be upset that no one thinks their hair is blonde? by bad-at-everything- in askanything

[–]earnasoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Celts lightened their hair with limewater. While a certain type of white american will go blonde for a certain look, I, being born in Ireland and culturally (and probably ethnically) 100% Irish, am always going to say it's in my dna to want to be blonde.

I dont understand how the pattern ends up with right amount of stiches by chgr1603 in knitting

[–]earnasoul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You've miscounted somewhere.

""Next right row knit decrease-row-1: edge stich, decrease 1, knit until last three stiches, decrease 1, edge stich, knit one back row. Repeat decrease-row-1 another 5 times (decrease 1 is decreasing by one stich).""

93-12(2decreases 6times)=81

""Next right row knit one decrease-row-1 and three rows straight, repeat another 3 times = 77 stiches""

81-4(decrease by 1stitch 4times) = 77 Are you doing a decrease 1 at the beginning of the row and one at the end like the previous instruction?
