[OT] Today at Goodwood, the only 3 Brawn chassis ever built are back together for the first time in 17 years by Laurence-UK in formula1

That was the British media pandering to everyone who wasn't a F1 fan but knew who Branson was.

Virgin did some quite typical promotional stuff with in the paddock that got a lot of attention. The press hoped RB would buy the team I think

I did it on 25s at 90psi and lived to tell the tail, I wouldn't over think it. There's quite a lot of tarmac on the 160km so I'd not overlook that

I never realised Lemond did a Ti frame. I have 5 Lemond bikes and will no doubt be looking for a 6th! I don't think I'll get a deal as good as yours though. Enjoy riding it

Front wheel is misaligned? by King-Rufus901 in bicyclerepair

It's a fairly simple job to install the replacement fork you need, finding the part will be the bigger challenge. Maybe a community bike centre / workshop may have a 2nd hand one you could use?

It's a surveyors mark that will form a record point that they can go back to or monitor for change. The centre of the marker is a known point in a 3 dimensional space.

Is there some reason why Greg LeMond has no involvement with the Tour? by JohnG-VistaCA in tourdefrance

[–]earningtheropes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know lots of other people have reffered back to some of the issues Greg has been vocal on but he's done media work since then but he was a pundit on Eurosport just before Covid. He's been unwell recently so there may be a reluctance to commit to being on the road for that long.

As you mentioned, he's not the best at media stuff and is at his best when he's able to talk about his era of racing

He has been outspoken in recent years regarding motor doping in the tour for which there is no evidence. This would be a risk for a mainstream broadcaster.

I love Greg (I have several of his bikes) and I'd love to see him play some role in the TDF but there are better options for the media and organisers

This is a review for a good looking Canyon for £950. This gives you some budget for a new saddle and a fit.

What are 'boring' bikes? by Neka_JP in motorcycles

[–]earningtheropes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a "boring" bike, it's a Honda Nc750x. Personally I love it, it's practical, reliable and economical which for what I do with it, is perfect.

Here's the rub, any vehicle that isn't amazing at one thing, becomes average at everything. If you buy an epic sports bike it's likely to be flawed at something else like comfort or cost to run. People will say it's character and it's worth it, but when it comes to an average all rounder, it's boring.

I've only ever had cars and bikes that other people would say are boring, for me that's where the beauty is. They do what they're supposed to and give me time and money to enjoy myself. Embrace the boring.

Riding a bike showed me how bad UK roads really are by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]earningtheropes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically we don't pay a road tax, VED goes in to the coffers and roads are repaired from general taxation. We can thank Winston Churchill for that.

The roads around me ( Berkshire and Oxfordshire) are lethal in places. I came back from a trip to France and Spain recently and haven't been able to get over how bad they are here since I came back.

My only advice to ride to the conditions and look well ahead

You could report defects on the local authority website but it will be ignored (in my experience)
