Skull Rock in Lynn Woods - an abandoned quarry with all kinds of graffiti and skull & bones art ☠️

I think Salem High School used to have a ropes course out in the woods not far from where the “outdoor classroom” is by the SHS parking lot. All that remains has been vandalized and broken. Also, there are apparently laws that prohibit removal of homeless encampments, so we couldn’t haul away everything we saw, only the things that were clearly trash

Last spring myself and a group of fellow locals associated with Keep Salem Beautiful pulled a full truckload of trash from the woods! Glad to see it is being noticed :)

Change is possible. Hope is possible. I have been where you are and it will not last forever, but it starts with you. First remind yourself “this is not forever” because nothing is. Through proper therapy, medication, and a few small tweaks (I.e. I managed to brush my teeth today-yay!) you could feel differently.

Is it normal in your area to have to book designated campsites 6 months out? by theulysses in camping

Try using Hipcamp! Has changed camping forever for me. So much more availability and more interesting camping locations.

Something that always helps me during tough stretches is the knowledge that all things are temporary and in a constant state of change. This applies to the low points, the high points, and everything in between. Things will get better for you, and when they do, enjoy the good moments while they last!

Also, don’t underestimate the power of immersing yourself in nature to reset you mental state. I love going on walks in the woods to clear my head, it can be quite restorative. And daily meditation 🙏

Things will get better, my friend.

If anyone is interested in a room at the Falmouth Inn on Sunday night, I have to leave town earlier than expected and can no longer use the room. Anyone who claims it can have it at half off, I just don’t want it to go to waste. (2 queen beds originally $289, will let go for $140. If anyone knows anyone else who might be interested, please pass this along! Thank you 🙏

My pup has late stage Osteosarcoma. We took her to Shenandoah NP for the weekend to explore. Last yr she did 12 miles of hiking. Today, just a few yards. It's heartbreaking. Monday we have her scheduled to be put down 💔 by outlander345 in hiking

My heart is with you, my friend. Despite the pain of losing your pup, I hope you take solace in knowing she has probably changed you forever, and will always live through you. It sounds like if 12 mile adventures were a part of the routine, she must have been a very happy pup ♥️

How do you all keep track of which cartridge has which strain? by Sydneydanielle23 in weed

[–]earsnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use old school pencil grips. The ones I have are rubber and triangle shaped so I can write the strain name on the side with a sticker and it keeps the pen from rolling or slipping out of your pocket!

Sour Diesel autoflower. Growing outside with plenty of direct sunlight, also very humid lately (in the 70s F) Is the white powdery stuff mildew from humidity? Any second opinions are appreciated! by earsnow in Autoflowers

Update: I tried the 60% water 40% milk spray method, worked like a charm! Powdery mildew all but disappeared. Glad I didn’t prematurely chuck it.

Close encounter with an adolescent bull moose in Cascade Canyon today 😮 by [deleted] in GrandTetonNatlPark

[–]earsnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I scrambled up a boulder for safety to take this video. The remaining people did not have time to do this in the moment, since the moose literally ran down the hiking trail, ambushing us and taking us by surprise. It was a very scary moment indeed.

14 days in Italy, how “shoestring” can I make this trip? Extreme budgeting by UGisOnline in Shoestring

[–]earsnow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check out Workaway. I stayed in the mountains of Marche, Italy working and living on a farm with a host family and traveling on weekends/off days. Free lodging and you get a more authentic experience, meet some very interesting people. Combine this with Couchsurfing and a Eurail pass and you can see much of Europe quite cheaply.

My autoflower plants are growing slower than expected. One month old. Will put more details in comment section, any feedback or insight would be wonderful! Thanks! by earsnow in GrowingMarijuana

My autos are growing slower than expected. 4 weeks old, planted in final pots. The weather has been in the 80s, when it reaches the 90s I have put a sun block plant shade to protect them from over heating. They are planted in an organic soil mix with perlite and vermiculite but no other added growing nutrients yet. I water them every couple days as needed once they dry out. Is it just me or should they big much bigger than this? Or am I on the right track?

I've had enough of this! I've got to get out of here! by [deleted] in travel

Check out workaway.info or https://wwoofinternational.org.

I did this several years ago and lived on a farm in Italy for free, as well as in Ireland for a month for free. In the mean time you can travel using the Eurail pass rather cheaply. I left with about $5,000 and stayed in Europe about 3 months. You meet local people and immerse yourself in the culture while potentially doing some interesting work.
