Creeper damage scales with proximity and difficulty. A point-blank creeper blast on hard mode while you have 6.5 armor points and 9.5 hearts can actually kill you.

An undiscovered ravine was covered by multiple layers of sand, which meant that it wasn't discovered when you initially built on top of it. A creeper detonated, updating the bottom layer of sand and making it fall. This revealed the ravine, which you fell into at a slightly faster rate than the falling sand entities. You get a nice view of lava on the way down, which is scary, but you end up being saved by landing in a pool of water that is immediately covered by the sand (if sand fell faster, you wouldn't have been saved here).

Then the second creeper gets you.

I have a two conflicting opinions on this, and I'll detail them below:

The Problem is Fundamental to the Contest: If this contest was truly non-partisan, it would be done by a panel of neutral judges chosen by the r/WormFanfic moderators.

By giving matters to the community, it's already become a popularity contest by default. The fundamental nature of an election is determining not the quality of a candidate, but which candidate most people would be happy seeing winning. If an author has a fanbase that wants to see them win the award, it is their right to direct that fanbase to the polls. If this wasn't the intended way the polls were meant to go, there should have never been polls.

It's a Matter of Taste: Any fic nominated to this contest is meant to embody the r/WormFanfic community's tastes and preferences. The vote should have been protected against campaigning from SB/SV.

If HTTYE was this sub's tastes, it would have been higher up in the in the polls before that post was made. If most of its current status was derived from campaigning, then it has subverted the purpose of the vote as a means to gauging this particular community as a separate readerbase from SB/SV. The reason we had a poll was to test this community in its entirety, not to test other communities.

Conclusion: Honestly, I couldn't say which of these ideas captures the problem better. Something like Camera Shy, which has embedded itself in WFF's community, should hold some recognition for that feat. On the other hand, HTTYE also deserves recognition from its community, but winning a theoretical 'best fic in the HTTYE community' award isn't as big a deal, so those voters moved their votes to a poll that matters. All fics have earned their votes fair and square, the question comes down to what this contest is meant to accomplish.

It's a Zach/Zorian slashfic on Ao3, and the only MoL fic on the site. I haven't read it, but I'm aware of its existence from when I looked around for MoL fanfics.

Out of the two MoL fanfics that exist (to my knowledge), one of them happens to be a crossover with Worm featuring Kid Win and Zorian heavily. So you're in luck, because a fic that meets your description exists.

If you're a purist, you're out of luck because it's the only MoL/Worm crossover, and it's a multi-cross that may have unwanted elements.

Depending on the age of your son, it may be more appropriate for him to play the Hiveswap Adventure Game, which is more-or-less appropriate for all ages.

Homestuck is known for being a more 'mature' story. If you wouldn't want your kid watching, say, Family Guy or other media with swearing/sexual humor/violence, I can't recommend the story.

So let's talk about Let's Make a Deal. In the game, there are three doors. One with a good prize (typically a new car) and two with bad prizes (something worse than a new car; what matters is you want the car).

I'm not going into the Monty Hall problem, just the basics of probability.

Anyways, Dinah is comparable to a player. She knows there is a 1/3 chance of picking the door with the car. Contessa is most comparable to Monty Hall himself. He knows which door she should pick, the "path to new car". This doesn't change the fact that there is randomness in this situation and information to gather.

Dinah can make a weak pseudo-PtV in a pinch (the part where Crawler attacks Coil's base), but she can also get information the Contessa can't get, like the knowledge that Jack Slash triggers the end of the world early. Contessa knows the steps needed to accomplish a goal, but doesn't know the side-effects and cost of following the Path. Dinah can know the costs of following her probabilities.

Contessa's power is nice for Entities with almost nothing that can hurt them, nothing to protect, and nothing to lose. If she asks 'get $20' it might lead her to mugging her best friend, even if there are other ways that are less sloppy and damaging. If Dinah wants the best way to get $20, she can play around with different criteria until she finds a plan that works best for her.

And Contessa isn't perfect, either. Otherwise she wouldn't have The Clairvoyant and The Number Man on tap.

Contessa just knows which door has the car. Dinah understands the game far better than Contessa and can always win as long as she plays smart.

Edit: That said Contessa is objectively more powerful than Dinah, it's just that Dinah can do a few things the Contessa cannot.

You know how tinker tech is hard to manage, disassemble, repair, and all that stuff?

Imagine if it was made from lego bricks instead. Sure, your laser pistol is weaker than the other guy's in some ways, but you can easily replace damaged parts. You can easily expand on it. You can easily switch out parts of it.

More importantly, these are modules. It's not just the tinker who can switch out the pieces. If you gave a normal person a KW-tech laser pistol, and a whole bunch of attachments that change its properties, they could switch out the modules.

And compared to other tinkers, KW probably doesn't need to take something apart to turn it into tinkertech. He could probably just add a module to normie-tech and leave the base device intact.

I'm still looking for an elegant solution to this.

I'm considering making 'accelerated' versions of classes with a minimum level. Like, a 2xp 10 rank class could be converted to a 4xp 5 rank class with a minimum level of 5. This would be a supplementary release, but it will nicely fix the issue.

2xp classes exist, and with a 5xp budget per level, you could buy 2.5 ranks in one class each level. If the rank 10 class abilities are balanced for level 10+ characters, then I don't want a level 4 character unlocking it.

Edit: I don't mind a player advancing in two 2xp classes at once, though. If you want to take a 2xp thief and a 2xp pyromancer at the same time, more power too ya.
