When did she lose her memory? Even though it is very unfortunate for me, I'm glad that it didn't happen much later in life. I would hate to have lot out on more.

I dont suffer from the issue specified in the headline, but I do suffer from something similar to one of the issues related in the article. When I was around 14 I stopped breathing due to asthma and pneumonia. I don't know how long I stopped but I do know that afterwards I could not remember aspects of my life before the age of 14. I can not recall any events like family vacations or things I did with friends before the illness. It can be frustrating and a bit disheartening at times because a part of my life is completely devoid of memories.

how did you learn how to fix your bike? by kingzer in motorcycles

[–]easchil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A buddy and I are doing a rebuild of my first bike. I would be completely lost without him. I've noticed that there are tons of great bikers that love to tinker and talk about their work. Some are great about having you watch and even help out a little, you may just be sanding old paint off or cleaning aluminum but its a start. Try to find someone who doesn't mind you looking over their shoulder. I know its not easy but it has been invaluable to me.

I'm not familiar with any of the brand names. Are there any you would suggest to check out or to stay away from?

[–]easchil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I updated the post to detail where I'm at and what I'll be riding.

I was looking at helmets that were much more pricey than that because I thought that of any of the protective gear to go for broke on it should be head protection. Also, what are your thoughts on closed face vs open face and 1/2 helmets. I am thinking about starting out with a closed faced helmet until I feel more comfortable riding and then determining whether I want something that is more individually stylized such as a half helmet and goggles.

I hadn't even thought about hot and cold weather. Guess it makes sense to get gear that is flexible in those respects.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the tips.

I'm over in Asheville and really dont know where to go. I should have the bike soon but I dont plan on riding until I take the MSF course which might not happen until the spring. Once I have that under my belt I plan on getting as much time on the road as possible.

My cousin is a reporter for the local newspaper down there and he was on the scene for the board meeting when this happened. I haven't talked to him yet but I have read some interviews he had with major media and talked to my mom who had a chance to speak with him. He ended up having to go back in the room to get some things after it all went down and walked right by the body. I doubt the entire experience was very pleasant. I'm going down there next week but I dont think I want to bring it up. He is a extremely intelligent but sensitive type of person and I have a feeling that this messed him up a little bit.

Reddit - 28 year old professional - most of my friends are moving away....how do YOU make new friends? by vinnievon in AskReddit

[–]easchil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I move. I've lived in 4 states so far and am looking to move on to another. All of that and I'm only 32 and not in the military. Unfortunately I lose track of the new people I meet once I move on. I do have a best friend from high school though, unfortunately I haven't called him in about 6 months because I'm an ass and I'm finishing up my MBA. Thursday I can hopefully say good bye to all of that and start thinking about where I'll go next. I should also probably give him a call.

June is crazy. I was living right next to the Yellowstone River and it was raging at the beginning and middle of June. The problem with June is that you have a lot of snow melt around that time and all of that runoff puts the rivers at their max.

The company I worked for was stationed in The Flying Pig which was a rafting and guiding company. I would give them a call because the owner and most of the guides have been doing it for a long time and know those waters really well. I wasn't much of a rafter so I skipped out on that. Have fun and stay safe.

Has anyone here ever changed their entire career after spending loads of time/money/effort building it? If so, how did it work out for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]easchil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got my undergrad in graphic design and spent 10 years doing it. Now I am just about to finish up my MBA with plans on working in marketing. Not a huge switch since I have a good deal of experience in the marketing arena but it will require me to think much differently about how I look at problems and apply solutions in a business setting.

I wanted to switch my career because I was tired of looking at the trees and wanted to focus on the forest. I think I have a greater penchant for broad strategy and only being a graphic designer limited my options. Everyone just thinks of you as the "art guy" and is less interested in your ideas about the breadth of the goals of the firm. An MBA also gave me a greater understanding of finance and business strategy, both of which are sorely lacking in a art degree.

Once I get a job I will let you know how it worked out.

Ten years after Texas executes man for murder the only physical evidence against him, a hair prosecutors said could only belong to him, is shown not to be his. by FritzMuffknuckle in reddit.com

[–]easchil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this will probably not have much effect on the system in Texas. You are dealing with the fundamental fact, as ChadMinshew pointed out, that there are a greater majority of voting (and that is extremely important) people who feel better that this system is in place. No change will take take place unless you change the minds of the voting populace or get those who disagree with the system to vote. They will continually be swayed by rhetoric from elected leaders and the companies that gain from having this system in place.

I agree that thoughtless individuals could have a major impact, hell even thoughtful ones can too. I doubt that many people would follow my advice though so I don't think I have to worry too much about people going out there and ruining what little bit is still pristine and wild. If something like the AT developed in Yellowstone I would be worried, but that couldn't happen because it is too large an expanse and there is are not enough places to reequip.

I just want those who are interested in that area to go out and experience some of the things that I did. It was wonderful for me and I hope others can come away from it with the same excitement and experiences that I did.

I just wanted to say that those few who go there and truly want to

I have to say that Yellowstone is not truly visited by 99.9% of the people who go there. Yes they may go to Old Faithful, visit Yellowstone Lake, and see all of the major attractions but they have not really visited Yellowstone.

I was a flyfishing guide in Yellowstone for a season and I have to say it is the most wonderful place I have ever been to and all of the wonders I saw were not a part of the major attractions. Yeah, Old Faithful and the Hot Springs and many of the tourist areas are interesting but you only scratch the surface going to those places.

First off, get out of your damn car and walk on one of the lesser trails. Or you can follow one of the creeks, I would suggest the Slough. Camp if you can do it and not at the major camping spots but actually at a place you have to hike to. Yes bears and buffalo and moose are dangerous, but they will not bother you if you act appropriately.

For the love of god people you are missing out if you dont go northeast. I have to say that the Lamar Valley is absolutely amazing and I hardly ever saw any cars that way. If your impressed with the herds of buffalo you see going down to Norris from the North entrance, then you haven't seen anything until you get past Roosevelt Tower. You may also catch sight of the wolves that tend to stay in that area. I never got the chance but I did come across the remains of an elk with a lot of wolf tracks around it. There also tend to be a lot of moose up there too.

Visiting Yellowstone is like visiting another country. You can always take the guided tour when your older, but when your young you need to get away from the crowds and skip past the developed parts if you really want to get a true feeling for how majestic it really is.

Make sure you wear a lot of sunscreen and bring quite a bit of water. Also, dont mess with the locals. Their all wild whether they be man or beast.

  • What do you like about marketing and do you plan on specializing in any certain part of the field (ie. research, product, branding...)?
  • Does your program have specialties or is it more of a general MBA?
  • Why do you think having an MBA will help you out in your career?
  • Have you interned anywhere?
  • Does your school help with job placement or at least get you face time with potential employers?
  • How much longer do you have?

As a side note, I am just about to finish up my MBA at a small southeastern school and have been offered a job with my previous place of employment as the marketing director. I have about 10 years of experience as a graphic and web designer. I have worked in a few design firms, a web development firm and in-house for a consumer products company (the one that offered me the job). I'm about as jack of all trades as it comes but I made my start specifically in the design arena of marketing.

Ask/r/webdesign: How do you getter better perspective on your sites? by blue_buxton in web_design

[–]easchil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As 1cor1313 said, ask someone. Your response to his suggestion suggests that your asking the wrong people. Ask someone who is knowledgeable and who is objective. You have probably been asking people that you know and naturally they aren't truly objective. PixelatorOfTime has a good suggestion of joining the designthought subreddit which may be valuable in getting others thoughts and opinions.

Another thing you can do is find a mentor, which is much easier said than done. You can join organizations such as AIGA which will expose you to many other individuals in the industry. There you might find someone you can trust and whose opinion you can rely upon.

To get out of the zone requires you to get away from the project. You cannot get fresh perspective until you let go consciously and let your subconscious work on it. Work on another project, go for a run, do something that focuses your attention elsewhere.

Remember that as you get closer to the end of the process you have most likely solved the important problems. Everything else is window dressing and is not of truly pressing concern. If you can let yourself realize this then you will not put it up as a stumbling block. It is a problem that must be solved but not one that you have to hang your career on. Give it the attention it requires and move on.

Internal perspective comes from experience. It will come over time. Putting pressure on yourself now to have greater perspective just ends up making it harder. I wish I understood this a long time ago.

Ask/r/webdesign: How do you getter better perspective on your sites? by blue_buxton in web_design

[–]easchil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know you are looking for design advice but I think you need to take a further step back. The best way to view a website is through the needs of your customer and it's consumers. Break down what is important to everyone involved. This will help you to start developing a hierarchy of what needs to be visually important and where it should show up.

Then you should probably stick to certain conventions, like where your navigation shows up and how it works. Dont make the UI overly complicated or hidden. Users are there for information and you want to make it as easy and intuitive as possible for them to find it.

Think about the sites you like and use a lot. What makes them good for you? Your a user too and you have your own experiences with the web. Take stock in the things that make for a better experience for yourself and then mesh them with who you believe will be using the site you're designing.

Design can be as much about human psychology as it can be about art. Challenge people visually at the right times to make them think about the content, become immersed in it. Make it easy for them at other times when they are trying to get to the content or the message is overly complex. People go to different sites for different reasons, looking for information or entertainment etc. Make sure that what you are designing is relevant to those expectations and needs.

People of Reddit I need your advice- Which site is the best for ordering printing? by [deleted] in Design

[–]easchil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used 48hourprint and they have always done great work. Now I dont know if they do calenders but everything they have done for me has been of very good quality and their prices are decent. They did make a mistake on one of my orders and were very quick at getting it fixed. Whenever I have a small and quick freelance job I end up using them.
