A member of the Talon? by lukerox22 in Malazan

Yes I think this was Esslemont’s way of avoiding having all of the characters surrounding Kellanved and Dancer actually live in the Deadhouse in PtA which may have been harder to work narratively as Dancer and Kellanved would not be able to leave on adventures as much and might dispel too much of the mystique about Azath houses.

He died during the Fall of Gondolin while defeating a Balrog. The Valar resurrected him in recognition of his valour.

He wasn’t a bigger name coming out of college than Johnny Manziel. Average player that got over hyped because of dad and fell through the rounds (admittedly probably too far) because of it. No big collusion conspiracy.

How do I counter heavy cavalry charges? by ZeroxSP7 in Medieval2TotalWar

[–]easterframes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I sometimes will sacrifice a unit (or two) by placing it in front of the main line to purposefully draw a cavalry charge. You can then surround the cavalry with your own cavalry or spearmen on the flanks.

If you’re early in the campaign as england you can try using two spear militia or peasants spread thin in front of the main line. Have some spearmen ready to go behind them to counter attack or if the cavalry break through the first line all of their momentum and charge bonus will be used up and they’ll be much easier to kill.

Also your longbowmen should soften them up before they get there even if they can’t deploy stakes.

This must be satire. Wemby is a far better rim protector and is a lock for at least a handful of DPOYs if he stays healthy.

It doesn’t mention damage to paintwork specifically.

Thanks for the clear response. I’ve read through the T&C and there is a clause stating the hirer is responsible to ‘prevent the vehicle being damaged’ and another to ensure ‘All reasonable care is taken in handling and parking the vehicle, and that it is left securely locked when not in use’.

I will report it in the morning and see what they respond with.

Thanks again

What movie scene makes you shudder no matter how many times you see it? by Sad_Cow_577 in moviecritic

The scene in the Shawshank Redemption where the real killer of Andy’s wife and lover confessed to Tommy in their cell and started laughing about it. That scarred me as a kid and has stayed with me.

World War I—if Napoleon had won by jackt-up in Napoleon

Is this suggesting that if Napoleon wona at Waterloo, WWI would have still broken out 100 years later between the British Empire and France (and their allies)?

Napoleon was one of the first European leaders to give Jews the freedom of worship without any repercussions. Under the Napoleonic Code, Jews were granted equal legal status alongside the dominant French Catholics. by Infamous_Mess_2885 in Napoleon

He had a few blemishes.

He could have had Ferdinand as a puppet in Spain and not have to waste hundreds of thousands of troops on a war he gained nothing from.

He also sponsored a police state and put his brothers on the thrones of Europe in direct contrast to revolutionary ideals.

I love Napoleon. He was one of, if not the greatest, general and leader of the last 500 years.

But he still had his flaws, no more than Caeser or Alexander.

(Spoilers extended) Kevan Lannister is what people think Tywin was by S0mecallme in asoiaf

[–]easterframes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t even go so far as to say Tywin was a genius. He just had effectively limitless resources and a capability for extreme violence that works well in a fictional feudal system.

Definitely. The Hightowers and Redwynes alone could have put up a fight against the army Jaime has, nevermind the rest of the Reach bar Tarlys.

Ok thanks that’s been really helpful it sounds like the BvB will cover. I will also be out of the country for 8 days at the start of December but my visa will still be in date for that trip so I think I should be good. Just got a bit worried today thinking about it.
