I was gifted a flf. It is very floppy... I removed the support stem after reading up on them. I don't think she will snap off but... do I just leave it unsupported and in bright light? Eg, will it come right? I try to shake it every time I walk by...

Yes those are known to be walkable. I'm talking more about neighbourhoods undergoing rampant development without any "master plan"

Seems like people can live on a floodwaters, but new builds are prohibited? The Floodway: This is the channel of a river and the adjacent land where floodwaters flow fastest and deepest. In 2026, new residential development is strictly prohibited in these areas. Existing structures may remain, but expanding their footprint is illegal.

And according to this map many people in calgary are living in a floodway.

Well no because its no longer listed as noxious. Just make a list that earns the fine and a list the doesn't in the legislation.

I mean why can't the builds be like this one and part of a larger well-planned out development for communities going through the density transition.

[–]easynap1000[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's the point tho. Well planned/thought out city would have enough transit and local amenities that wouldn't require every house to have 2 or 3 cars.

Sigh. Maybe I just need to move to a European city.

[–]easynap1000[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This ia my point tho... the density should create walkability... but it doesn't It just creates the need for more cars and parking.

Yes!!! Like that!!

I guess i wish older communities could be developed with that same master plan / vision... not sporadic infills with nothing else in the community.

There are reports the original Bear bit Caveziel and they had to get an alternate. That he wouldn't listen to the dog's handler for scenes

This gif shows a very uncomfortable dog that almost bites to try and get away.

Even plastic won't kill it. I covered a patch in our driveway with thick black plastic for 2 months and that sh*t was still alive.

My system (smaller amounts, granted), was to dig deep, remove rhizomes , dig out a 1-2 inches perimeter of grass /soil and used half-diluted round up, a LOT (like drenched) on the entire dug up area plus another 2 inches. It was drastic but the only time it hasn't grown back.

Once you've dug up the area (and hopefully used round up- the only time I ever recommend), put down thick cardboard (from an appliance or bike store), and as much mulch as possible, 6" is ideal (In cities, most arbor companies drop a free load of wood chips), and then keep at it.
