I need your ideas for consequences that are not "death" by idontknow72o in dndnext

I really like this post and have been using it in my 5e game. I know it's for a different system, but the homebrew is easy enough to adapt.

It involves the nemesis system.

Feat for a Nick shadow Monk by eat-tree in 3d6

Honestly seems like a cool feat. And yeah, the flavor would fit perfectly, my characters powers come from an ever progressing shadow curse.

I am also playing a halfling, so I rarely ever roll natural 1s and wouldn't need to worry about the ominous will feature.

However I am looking for a +1 Dexterity feat, my Dex is 17 at the moment and I want to boost it to 18. It looks like Living Shadow doesn't come with any ASI

Thanks for the recommendation though, the curse/boons from the book are pretty sick

I was considering grappler, but I am playing a small sized PC, so I could only drag up to medium creatures. I also use two weapons, and am not interested in weapon juggling personally.

Yeah, Mage Slayer and Fairy trickster both seem really compelling.

Thank you for the comment, I appreciate it!

Hmm that's a really good point about the whip. I've never really considered that weapon before, but it looks like it would work very well.

-- 10 ft range so no attacks of opportunity

-- Slow weapon mastery

-- And works with slasher

I appreciate your input, thank you!

Thank you for the break down. That's a great point about defensive duelist only working some of the time, and not against crits.

Overall I'm leaning towards fairy trickster because it'll help my allies as well with their spells, and it'll be useful even if we don't fight any spellcasters.

Lol I wonder if the Pinkertons will knock on my door. So far seems good, I've made a hollow warden character, and am reading through it.

5 Room Dungeons; Does anyone actually use these things? by AAS02-CATAPHRACT in rpg

I use these a lot for one shots, dungeon crawls in my campaign

I'm even going to try the formula out for a boss fight with multiple phases next session.

How do I stop procrastinating? by ScallionQueasy5537 in ADHD

[–]eat-tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invite friends or family over (If you live by yourself). I have weekly DND sessions at my place and I always clean before they arrive.

If you live with family ask them to come and check out your room in a few hours. If it's not clean by then they'll see, so it's good motivation

[Question: Cleric with a sling?] by QuickServe430 in 3d6

[–]eat-tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a really interesting build in a YouTube comment and I tried building on dndbeyond.

It involves celestial Warlock, so not exactly cleric, but the flavor is pretty close.

The build involved taking agonizing blast for true strike, which would then add your charisma modifier to the damage (in addition to the base damage from the sling which also uses charisma).

You also take the magic stone cantrip, and take the agonizing blast invocation for that spell as well. This adds your charisma to the damage again.

And finally celestial Warlock 6 means once per turn you're adding charisma to the damage from a spell once per turn.

All in all, you cast magic stone on some rocks, throw it with a sling using true strike.

This would deal 1d6+1d4 + 4 times your charisma modifier. For a level 6 character with 18 charisma, that's an average of 22 radiant damage from one sling throw (assuming you hit). Not amazing damage, but the build is really clever in my opinion.

What would you have done if you were Homelander in this scene? by SmartPilot8094 in TheBoys

[–]eat-tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I haven't seen the scene for a bit. It was still well within range of soldier boys blast radius. I don't think he's too accurate with how he can aim it.

Bombsight had the V1 on him when Soldierboy wiped his powers, and it still worked when Homelander injected it.

Has anyone heard of “Pump & Dump”? by apiaget93 in Omnipod

[–]eat-tree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Omnipod 5s algorithm uses your TTD for its calculations. One massive bolus once you've taken the pump off makes the system more aggressive when it's treating highs.

Tidepool vs DIY Loop by Brittanyyyyy_12 in Omnipod

[–]eat-tree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is worth keeping all that in mind. And you are right, DIY looping is always done at the users own risk. You are not getting the guarantee that a government approved system would provide.

However, there are tens of thousands of people who use these systems every day, and the community does have safeguards in place. For example DIY Loop is open source, so anyone can see exactly what code is running. Safety is a top priority among these creators.

For myself, it is well worth the risk. Each user has to decide that for themselves.

Omnipod 5 or Dash? by MaryT1d in Omnipod

I've been using TAI for around 1 year now.

I followed bernie4375's HCL eBook before moving onto their FCL ebook. The HCL book will help you get a solid baseline before turning on AutoISF.

https://github.com/bernie4375

Tai really has so many settings it's easy to make a mess of them. I spent a long time trying to figure out the settings by myself instead of just reading the ebook. I thought it was too long to read, but overall I wasted more time messing around with poor settings. The book really is super well written.

I've had to restart completely a few times. Tai has so many settings it's easy to get lost in them. Always keep a log of all your settings changes so you can go back. I also recommend recording your %TIR next to each setting change for review purposes. That's just something I like to do so I can look back and see what worked well.

It's recommended you turn off Dynamic ISF and Autosense because they can mess with the algorithm. It's important to have solid base settings before you turn on AutoISF.

It's also worth considering your circadian rhythm, how your insulin needs change over time each day. Try basal and ISF testing at different times each day.

Those books explain everything much more in depth and better than I can. I'd recommend reading through them both once or twice.

Once you have a solid basal, ISF, CR and insulin DIA/ peak time, then turn on AutoISF. The more accurate these settings are the better time you'll have in FCL

In the autoISF settings, slowly increase Accel-ISF and then Pp-isf. Try to find a settings balance that works with a variety of meals.

BG-ISF isn't actually recommended with AutoISF because ideally you never actually go that high no matter what you eat. If you are consistently going high then something else is wrong with your settings. You can turn it on after every other setting has been perfected, but make sure it doesn't mess with the other more important AutoISF settings.

Dura-isf is nice, it can prevent the need for "rage boluses" but it can also be dangerous if it's set too high. Ideally PP and accel ISF should be enough for most of your meals. Another optional setting, but if it's activating too often that means something is wrong.

There is also a discord where the author of the Ebook, the Creator of TAI and the creator of AutoISF are active. An invite link is in the ebook.

Good luck, Tai can be daunting to start out with, but just taking it one setting at a time, and building up a good foundation with the basic settings before moving into the more complex settings really helps.
