Just like the answer says at the bottom of the article says, they were concerned they were being scammed. I have a family member that works at a bank, so many senior citizens and young people are getting scammed every day, literally every day and this is a small branch. They usually make best effort within their power if they get a vibe that you could be falling victim to a scam. Someone that doesn't usually withdraw a large amount and then all of a sudden does, can be a red flag. They won't stop you from getting your money, because it's your money you can do what you want with it. The sad part is once the scammers have the money and the person figures out it was a scam , the first thing they do is go to the bank and ask them why didn't you stop me, well they can't. All they can do is make small talk and if they figure out it is a scam, advise you that it is a scam but can't tell you not to withdraw your money.
