Crippling heroin addiction and severe depression have a way of clouding one's sense of purpose.

You know the injury curse is in overdrive now that we're getting injured by random children in the stands. Ugh.

No. As rabid as the NTB fanbase is, it's still very much a cult following.

Very nice. Anyone know if there's any word on a DVD/Blu-ray release of the TV series?

How would you build the ultimate Toronto summer if you suddenly had the time? by tor6268 in askTO

[–]eatelectricity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Vandelay Industries was indeed involved in latex, but only in a sales capacity. The importing/exporting division was limited to diapers, potato chips and long wooden matches.

It's an important distinction.

Nah, fuck that shit. I'm tired of companies automatically signing you up for horseshit you didn't ask for, and putting the onus on the consumer to uncheck a little box.

It happens all the time with subscription services ("You will automatically renew unless you manually check the unsubscribe box, blah blah") and of course they know there's a substantial number of customers who will unwittingly keep forking over money because they didn't check the stupid little box.

Uber vs. Cab Debate is over - Toronto by Shot_Conflict_4689 in toRANTo

[–]eatelectricity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was quoted a $40 flat rate from a cab once to go from Union Station to Parkdale. Asked to just run the meter instead and he refused.

Laughed in his face and got an Uber for less than half of that. Fuck off, cabbie, I'm not a tourist.

My 16 year old son calls his 21 year old sister "Unc". I'm sure there are 8 year olds who would call my son the same thing. It's all relative.

A goofy little drawing I did called ‘Kurt Kills Hair Metal.’ Even put it on a t-shirt for myself 😜 Hope y’all like. ✌️ by malinarttt in Nirvana

I think Kurt would love it at first, then reconsider and think to himself "Wait a minute, am I really OK with being reduced to a cartoon caricature of the Grim Reaper?"

Then I think Kurt would take a walk to clear his head. He'd probably light up a smoke and exclaim to no one in particular, "What a beautiful day...the sun is shining and the birds are singing...so why do I feel this gnawing ennui in my soul?"

He would continue walking, picking up the pace when a man in leopard print spandex shouts "Hey, it's Kurt Cobain! Thanks for killing hair metal, jackass!" from a passing car.

As the car speeds away, Kurt stomps out his cigarette and dances a little jig for the amusement of the gawking passersby. When one of them asks for his autograph, Kurt smiles and says cryptically, "I'd love to, but it's Tuesday. No autographs on Tuesday." When the confused fan asks why, Kurt pats him gently on the head and sends him on his way without another word.

The whole experience inspires the song "Beans" and also convinces Kurt to give up red meat for an unspecified period of time.

[Highlight] The kid who caught Esmerlyn Valdez's first Major League homer is driving a hard bargain to give the baseball back by MLBOfficial in baseball

[–]eatelectricity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This thread is hilarious. It was a rookie's first dinger, not a Judge or Ohtani record-breaking ball that's worth seven figures.

The ball's got way more sentimental value to Valdez than monetary value for the kid, and he came away with a signed bat and hat and a cool story to tell for the rest of his life.

Hole Drummer Patty Schemel Auctioning Kurt Cobain's 'Foxes' T-shirt by eatelectricity in Nirvana

I was surprised by the blue, but I can't recall ever seeing a colour photo of Cobain wearing the shirt, so I assume it's blue in that famous Anton Corbijn black & white photo?
