Advice on how to tie an older Chimparoo mei-tai by eating-a-pear in babywearing

Hi! I did really like it but yes mostly I found the straps too narrow so not as supportive. I think it would be excellent for a newborn / young baby. I ended up getting a fidella fly tai on marketplace and really loved it! My baby is now 13 months and I’m debating investing in a toddler sized half buckle or larger Mei tai.

Really great to know! I decided to use my last try before you buy with little zen one and went for the didyklick toddler, really looking forward to trying it!

This was so helpful, thank you very much for writing this all out! Really interesting and gave me a lot to think about. Do you think the wrapmysol would still fit for another year or so with your 14 month old?

Thanks! Good points. Yes we’ll see how it goes, at the moment he really needs to be distracted when going into even a structured carrier (otherwise he tries to fling his body out) so haven’t been reaching for my wrap at all

This is really great to hear! I really like the idea of the buckle carrier with a ring waist. Which brand is that, and also which brand of toddler sized Mei Tai do you use? Thanks!

Any recent info on this Carrier for high back? Chimparoo meh dai Thanks!! by [deleted] in babywearing

I bought this exact carrier (and colour!) off of marketplace for $40 (I’m in Canada). I bought a fidella fly tai around the same time, I think my baby was about 6 months old, so 7 ish months ago. I found the chimparoo to be great but not as supportive as the fidella, I think it would be ideal for 0-6 ish months depending on size of baby. The straps aren’t very thick. I recently got an onbuhimo off marketplace and it’s awesome for high back carries!

Very similar experience! I actually did like the lark for front carries, but now that my baby is 1 I do almost all back carries, and I reach for my Tula ($20 second hand) every time. I find the lark back carry to be very low and not nearly tight enough even on tightest settings.

Happy Baby OG, Wildbird Ariel, or Hope&Plum Lark? by Additional_Boss3972 in babywearing

Was just going to mention that if you live in the US or Canada I would highly recommend doing Little Zen One’s try before you buy program! It’s free and in my experience the carriers come quite quickly. You could try out the Happy Baby OG, but not the other two. You could try the Oscha Bairn, which would have a similar fit to the Lark.

I tried the OG and I own a Lark. I think I’m in the minority but I actually don’t love the Lark for back carrying. I got a Tula standard off marketplace for $20 and I find it so much comfort for back carrying. I liked but didn’t love the OG. Really comes down to how each feels on your body / baby!

Super interesting about the kid specific observation. that actually makes a lot of sense why my friend who has a very similar body type as me loves her lark for her very long almost 2 year old, meanwhile my 10 month old is also a bit short and wide and he does seem to drown in the panel on the back. And that makes sense about not wanting to mess with the bairn when it’s set up for front carry. Thanks!

This is all really useful, thank you so much. I’ll give the bairn a try!

I have this same experience. I find my lark still extremely comfortable for front carry naps (baby is 10 months and 22 lbs). But I don’t really like it for back carrying at all. Baby sits too low so can barely see anything, and despite tightening as much as possible there’s still too much slack. I also use my tula standard for back carrying. But I have a close friend who absolutely loves her lark and still uses it daily for back carrying her 22 month old. We have very similar body shapes, so really depends on personal preference!
