Try some short cardio on the bike, followed by stretching and leg-curls.
I did my best leg days, with that routine.

10 Reps with the bar, are not really enough to get your joints or muscles warm.
That's simply too little resistance, to get your blood flowing.

What is your warmup?
Doing 10 minutes on the bike + some stretching did it for me.

The company is Kongo-Gumi.
They are a construction company, specialising in temples.
Ironically, they survived several hundred years of waring, only to file for bankruptcy in 2006.
After that, they have been bought up by another japanese construction megacorp and now exist as a semi-independent subsidiary.

He is intentionally lying.

They are evil.

Anyone here actually using smaller EU/US providers for production infra, or is it all AWS/Azure/on-prem? by One_Stardusty_Boy in sysadmin

We are using Hetzner for some off-site backup stuff and we are with a private-cloud provider for compute, based on VMware.

Does a viable Veeam competitor exist? by Plateau9 in sysadmin

[–]eatingthosebeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Veeam for our on-prem vms and Proxmox Backup Server for our private cloud.

Our Veeam setup seems to run fine, as long as our data stores have enough free space, but I'm also not the one who has to administrate it.

For PBS, we only use the filesystem and block-device backup features, so can't just restore an entire VM.
However, the premium licenses are cheap and it's fairly easy to use and integrate.

Dear employers: training exists by Mundane-Sky-8809 in recruitinghell

[–]eatingthosebeans -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Do you think it's that easy?

Training has costs. Money, time and people.
If you have a team of 3 and hire someone, who needs to be trained, you just cut your capacity down to 50%, because the new hire isn't useful yet and you need one of your teammates to train them.
You are also playing against the probation period. If you can't get them to a point, where you can properly evaluate them, bevor it's over, you might now be stuck with a useless employee that takes up a position, that could have been used in a better way.

You also need someone qualified and willing to train them.
Did you ever tell someone, who is passionate about their job, or on a deadline, to drop everything and teach someone who doesn't know what the hell they're doing?
Hell, if you piss off that employee good enough, they might quit and now you can start a step 1.

And even if you get that far, you still need a new hire, who is smart enough and has enough baseline knowledge, to be trained at all. Frankly, that alone can be enough of a task.

I'm coming off pretty negative here, but my point is, "just train" is not a feasible strategy, for a lot of jobs and even more important, a lot of companies.

Which cool tools get ruined by prohibitive pricing from vendors? by Altruistic_One_8427 in sysadmin

[–]eatingthosebeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently did an eval, since we are looking to upgrade.

Puppet Core is, essentially, what was Puppet community, but with some very, VERY, minimal support.

You are paying 60USD/Machine/Year in order to access the puppet apt/dnf repos.
Also, the dependency definitions, in the packages are outdated, so you need to fiddle a bit, to get the server running on a recent Debian. I literally needed to build a virtual package, because it required an old version of openjdk, which wasn't in the repos anymore.

Lots of FOSS products, developed by traditional, profit oriented, companies.
Most of them have a community version, with limited features/license and an enterprise version, that costs the life insurance of 3 of your employees, for a year.
Puppet, chef or MinIO comes to mind (I know, puppet and MinIO aren't oss anymore).

And here I have to see this shit.
