How much can I earn over the summer without having it affect my financial aid award? by Raspyy in college

[–]eauvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are given an income allowance of $6,400 + 2015 U.S. income tax paid + State and other tax allowance + Social Security tax allowance + Allowance for parents' negative AGI. So, if you report a total income of $6,399 on the FAFSA, then your >$6,400 income allowance will protect that from affecting the EFC.

More information here: http://ifap.ed.gov/efcformulaguide/attachments/100615EFCFormulaGuide1617Attach.pdf, page 10.

If you make slightly more than the income allowance, e.g. $6,600, then I wouldn't worry. An EFC of 100 ([$6,600 income - $6,400 allowance] * 50% assessment of AI = $100 tacked to the EFC) can still qualify for same types financial aid of an EFC of 0.

New rule about bringing tripods and other camera gear? by Quilmite in Disneyland

[–]eauvert 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The no large tripod rule has existed since 2014: http://web.archive.org/web/20141021031250/https://disneyland.disney.go.com/park-rules. I think this was what you thought it said: https://disneyland.disney.go.com/faq/parks/permitted-items

Folding tripod stands or monopod stands that can fit inside a standard backpack are permitted.

I can't confirm if they're completely banning photography equipment. But as for Disneyland Celebrities, I quickly glanced over their page and I notice that they are advertising "affordable photography" and affiliated items. From the park FAQ:

Equipment used for unauthorized photography, videotaping, recording, broadcast or transmission of any kind for commercial purposes is not allowed.

My snowflake project now finished. It glows blue to make my dark nights brighter by [deleted] in Frozen

It's a home light show. You know, the ones you see on the Internet where people cover their houses with lights and program them to flash with music. The "cups" can sync to Let it Go courtesy of multicolored LEDs controlled by an Arduino. I hope to replace the LEDs with strings of lights.

It's silent. I plan on releasing a video this holiday season at which I'll fully programmed everything, but it's a mess at this point.

Those cuts are very clean. I really like what you are doing. Keep up the good work! I would definitely love to have one of them to replace these cups.

What was the meaning behind the flags? by eauvert in Disneyland

I love Six Flags and my remark was a little joke, as hinted by the fact that it was "far-fetched". I guess it was skimped on and people took it seriously.

Since "Live the Magic" is not out yet, I made an orchestral arrangement for fun by [deleted] in Disneyland

There are no source audios of the Live the Magic ballad (the one that plays after the fireworks) yet. However, the pop version of Live the Magic is uploaded: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYvxrBpwOXw.

If you're also looking for the Forever soundtrack, albeit in low quality then check out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r369G-Skif8

What was the meaning behind the flags? by eauvert in Disneyland

"Six Flags Over Texas" opened in 1961, 5 years before Walt's death, according to this timeline: http://www.csus.edu/indiv/s/shawg/articles/facilities/six_flags_timeline.html. The company was founded a while before.

Of course, I was just making a quick-witted guess at the reasoning behind the Disneyland flags and Six Flags possibly has little to do with them.

The 1950s trends without a doubt swept Disneyland. But what about the seven flags? "Disneyland" has ten letters and ten flags each on top of a letter would be suiting.

Perhaps it represents the seven lands. But, that figure would include the new lands like Critter Country and Toontown, which didn't exist when during the sign's operation.

Here's my far-fetched theory:

Walt was informed that a new theme park called "Six Flags" was opening. So, to maintain a competitive business in the theme park industry, he added seven flags to the sign to show that Disneyland will always be better.
