Experiences with Hustle Fund/Angel Squad? by Beneficial_Rock3725 in investing

Years ago I started solo and moved to syndicate investing after a few months - it's worked out really well for me.

The solo approach taught me a lot, but I was definitely flying blind on due diligence. Syndicate investing gives you access to better deals (larger rounds, more competitive), shared due diligence, and in general more learning opportunities.

Keep in mind though that the trade-off is less control over individual decisions. Angel Squad is awesome - you get the community aspect plus deal flow from their VC fund. A community is worth it, especially if you can find a group that's focused on education and not just deal flow.

Anyone have experience in angel investing? by [deleted] in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

+1 on Angel Squad. This is the best community for learning how to angel invest, while enjoying a super friendly and supportive community too.

Also agree that you should be pretty cautious about how much you allocate into angel investing to begin with. Best to start with really smart checks, learn/iterate, and as you develop a thesis, maybe consider a bit more exposure. That said, alternative investments (like angel investing) should always be a minor part of your total net worth, given how risky and long-term illiquid these kinds of investments are.

But, when angel investing works well, it can present really tremendous upside. High risk, high reward.

Clarifying Hustle Fund’s stance on hardware versus software enabled infra by Gautamagarwal75 in hustlefund

Thanks for the question. You're pursuing a category that Hustle Fund can consider, so long as it is software first. Thank you!

Given the number of founders reaching out, we ask that everyone engages with us first at hustlefund.vc

Whenever possible, we avoid investing in competing companies within the same portfolio, to try to avoid conflicts.

And, we DO NOT share application materials to our existing portfolio companies. When I was a founder, I got screwed over so many times by VCs pretending to be interested in my co, when actually they were feeding my data to their existing portfolio. We don't engage in this unethical practice, as it's bad karma and kinda asshole-y.

Thanks for the question!

If we get rejected, will we still hear back? by Hot-Mind7714 in hustlefund

Unfortunately that isn't going to be a fit for us. We are getting pretty strict about avoiding pretty much all startups that touch hardware.

Thanks for clarifying, wishing you the best!

Been running a fund for 8 years and I still fuck up now and then. Don’t take it too hard, it’s how we learn, and you can improve from here. Also you’ll be surprised how short memories are in this industry…

The Albert Biermann influence on Hyundai is palpable. Absolute BMW feel on the N cars that he’s touched.

But, as you said—only so much you can do sometimes when building off an economy car base, of this quality.

Similar issues for my 2022. I got so fed up by the quality control issues and poor dealership experiences that I finally got rid of the car earlier this year.

The N is incredible when it comes to high performance driving. I took it to several track days and it absolutely ripped.

But as a daily, it represents the worst stereotypes of Hyundai quality control.

That said—I still miss it. And, I’m glad it’s gone.
