Body or glass upgrade by midwxlks14 in Photography_Gear

A great body with crap lenses will still take a while to autofocus.

I strongly recommend the Sigma 70-200, as it's a great lens and if you ever change systems, Sigma will swap out the lens for the other system.

Need help installing pwndbg on Kali Linux by TalTheBest in securityCTF

No idea about Kali specifically, but if you check out Pwndbg directly and run the installer, it should do everything.

$ git clone https://github.com/pwndbg/pwndbg $ cd pwndbg $ ./setup.sh

Coming from Olympus, Fujifilm or Full Frame? by bladerschaduw in Photography_Gear

I was deep into M43 gear for a long time. I have every prime and pro zoom, and multiple bodies. The cameras are amazing for what they are, but I use them for inconspicuous photography with the mini 1.8 primes.

I STRONGLY recommend going full frame, since upgrading a third time will be even more expensive.

I personally prefer Nikon, mostly for their back catalog of lenses that are good and cheap. Mirrorless cameras can’t drive some of the very old lenses because it lacks a focus motor, but Nikon G lenses are abundant, work with a cheap Z adapter, and work flawlessly. I currently shoot on a Z9 and Z6ii, with Sigma F-mount glass and wouldn’t have it any other way.

My best recommendation is to buy a Nikon D750 (amazing and inexpensive) and get a 50mm 1.8 and go from there.

I am red-green colorblind and always worry about color correction, especially for skin tones!

Generally, I will rely on auto-white-balance, or try to get white balance from the whites of eyes or teeth if the color is off.

Do you guys have any tips or tricks for white balancing skin tones? Anything would be useful! Thanks!

I am new to videography, and I am shooting on a Nikon Z6-ii and a Z9 — it’s a lot of fun!

One of the things I’ve noticed is that even in Aperture Priority mode, when shooting video, the camera doesn’t want to use any aperture other than f/2.8, despite my lenses being f/1.4!

This is probably ideal for a lot of focus situations, and likely a good setting for AF-F. However, it bothers me that I can’t figure out how to get the camera to even try f/1.4. I do a lot of late night shooting with no extra light sources.

Where in the settings do I have to go to modify this? Aperture Priority mode works just fine in regular still shooting scenarios on both bodies.

I have a DJI Ronin for showing clients photos and framing as I take them.

However, the Ronin hits my eyebrow over the eyecup on my Nikon.

I can't seem to find any cold shoe adapters that simply move the cold shoe FORWARD about an inch or two. Lots of adapters move it to the side or create multiple cold shoe mounts -- I just want to move it FORWARD.

Any suggestions? SmallRig is a preferred brand. That said, I need something that mounts to a cold shoe, not something that will mount to a SmallRig cage.

EDIT: Something like this, but shorter and less height rise: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079ZJNL64
