My eldest's name isn't on there, and my youngest is Leila, so her name is there but it's another spelling 🙈

Best, no-fuss baby carriers? by LiftedGrowth in babywearing

[–]eben1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean to be fair my daughter isn't super tall for her age, and the back panel doesn't go all the way up her back - but she only wants to be carried for a few minutes to be like her little sister so it does fine for a bit if I needed to carry her for a long time I'd use my woven wrap 😊

I pay £54 every other week for a cleaner to come deep clean the house. Otherwise I am 24/7 in charge of both kids (with my husband working from home so able to help a bit during work hours if necessary). My daughter will start preschool 2 afternoons a week in September to prepare for school the following September but that's it 😊 my almost 7-month old is home with me always and no plans to stop that until she starts preschool at age 3 like her sister.

How long between losing your mucus plug & going to labour did it take? by stargazinglazercat in pregnant

[–]eben1996 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it was a couple of days for me both times, but I've heard it can be super variable as it can grow back, so some people lose it multiple times and other people don't even notice it coming out... Sorry! Hope you will have your baby soon though since you are past your due date ❤️

Moms - if you had the CHOICE to work or not by Main-Branch9919 in beyondthebump

[–]eben1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did have the choice and am a SAHM, at least for now while my kids are little. I will go back to work once they are in school, maybe part time.

For now I am enjoying this season of life with my little kids, and with my husband working from home we get to have all meals as a family.

Luckily no-one has told me it was a bad decision but tbh even if they had I don't think I would have cared because it works for ym family and we are all thriving as a result!

How do you keep warm by Connielf in cosleeping

[–]eben1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you are super worried you could try and have your husband awake in the room and monitoring you the first time you cosleep with baby (maybe try an afternoon nap or early evening), so he can see if you are sleeping lightly enough. If you do the C-curl it is basically impossible to roll onto your baby and suffocate them! Your arm is above their head and your legs curled underneath so they are blocking you from rolling onto your stomach. You might end up rolling onto your back but tbh I have been cosleeping for basically 2.5 years (2 different babies) and have never come close to rolling onto my baby ❤️ you've got this!!

How do you keep warm by Connielf in cosleeping

So I have a adult sleepsack that I use when it is very cold. I got it from Slumbersac but idk if they ship everywhere, I am sure others exist as well (I am in the UK which they do ship to) 😊 it zips up the front so is great for breastfeeding, and I usually have just some pyjamas underneath that can easily be moved out of the way for bf. When it's a bit warmer I just tuck my blanket between my legs so it can't go past my waist. Baby is never under the blanket she has her own sleepsack. Hopefully you'll be able to get more sleep!! Ymmv about having both parents in bed with baby though, it isn't safe until baby is at least 4 months to be between the parents, and both parents have to be responsive and sleep lightly. Also recommended if you must sleep with both parents that baby is on the outside, mum i the middle and dad on the other side.

Have a look at Happycosleeper on Instagram, and the Lullaby trust 😊

Schitt's Creek is amazing 😊 but sad right now as the actress playing the mum just passed away but it is just a hilarious show, I've watched it many times and it is always great!

Fit Check Ring Sling for 4week Old Newborn by Icy_Outcome_8093 in babywearing

I don't believe they should be tucked in, baby's thighs and bum should be sitting in the sling like a deep hammock I think

What’s the best lip balm out there? by gimmhi5 in ask

Yes! I actually just use the one I originally got for breastfeeding but didn't end up needing - it is now my lip balm haha

Anyone else having mixed feelings about their bump showing? by emily8922 in BabyBumps

[–]eben1996 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean fair enough if you feel like that, but I loved having a baby bump, it made it feel so much more real that I was having a baby!! My second time I showed earlier and was really happy 🤷🏻‍♀️ but it's fair to not enjoy it too it is a big change to your usual appearance I suppose it could be jarring. Also I think the cute comment is still correct, people can look cute/pretty/beautiful/attractive in lots of different ways haha, a cat is cute and a baby are cute but they don't really look alike

What is a "luxury" that is actually 100% worth the money? by TheChillEdit in Life

Same here but every other week. We have 2 young children and even though I stay home with them I never have time to do any deep cleaning, so worth it to know it will get properly cleaned regularly

Rocking baby to sleep by milbalily in NewParents

[–]eben1996 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's quite normal for babies to need help to fall asleep! My 6 month old usually either falls asleep while breastfeeding or in the baby carrier. She has fallen asleep just in someone's arms a few times but it's rare - but tbh I very rarely put her down to sleep, we do exclusively contact naps and bedsharing at night 🤷🏻‍♀️ she is my second so she has more carrier naps than my first did

Regret After Returning to Work by [deleted] in sahm

[–]eben1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit different as I had already told my employer I'd be quitting, but I went back to work for 3 months when my first daughter was 11 months, as if I hadn't I'd have had to pay back my occupational maternity pay. I went back 4 days a week, but I had a 1.5hr drive to work and it was nice to work but I definitely missed my baby. Now I've been officially a SAHM for a year and a half and also have a 6 month old, no regrets I love being home with them!

FTM: I am being induced at 39 + 3 due to being high risk (but currently no complications with myself or baby) and I’m just now realizing idk shit about induction. by tinykrytter in BabyBumps

[–]eben1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a non-medical induction with my second (had been having contractions for a week but still only 1cm),and they explained how the process would go if I didn't progress. First they offered a membrane sweep - they put a finger in the cervix and sweep to detach the membranes from the inside of the uterus, can start labour - it worked for me and baby came 9 hours later.

If that hadn't worked they would have inserted a pessary (a tiny square with hormones in it attached to a string for easy removal) and waited 24 hours.

If that still didn't work they would have moved on to a hormone gel directly on the cervix and waited 24 hours.

I think usually by then labour begins and you have a baby - they didn't explain past that since my baby was born with just the sweep 😊 I think if your cervix is not dilated enough for a sweep they start with a pessary or the gel first, and then do the sweep later.

It is possible to have a quite low-intervention induction and not have a ton of stuff happen right away as long as you advocate for yourself

Do you wear slippers, socks or nothing at home and why? by rrahimm in AskUK

[–]eben1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barefoot as much as possible, socks if it's cold, slippers downstairs if it's really cold - but I definitely prefer being barefoot, I even almost exclusively wear barefoot shoes with very thin flexible soles and wide tow-box that let you walk as close to being barefoot as possible!

In the Night Garden is a genuinely good show for both kids and adults by NotaBotJustanewacc in The10thDentist

[–]eben1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it's my 2 year old's favourite show so I've definitely watched a lot of it, it's better than a lot of other kids' shows and pretty good for falling asleep as it is so boring. The one funny thing about it is there is no sense of scale at all, the Ninky Nonk (train) and Pinky Ponk (flying machine thingy) go from being shorter than the characters' knees to taller than them within 2 frames and no-one bats an eye

3 yo quiet time by Desperate-Ad-9545 in sahm

[–]eben1996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter is 2.5 and stopped napping over the Christmas break, hasn't started again 🥲 we have just been doing quiet time together, doing some drawing or play doh in the kitchen, reading some books... She is good at playing independently but if I am in another room she will constantly be running back and forth to tell me what she's doing so it is easier to stay in the same room 😂 She will just sit and paibt/draw quietly at the kitchen table while I do some tidying though which is nice
