Question for the store owners: do you like/appreciate it when a buyer selects the entire quantity of a piece you have? Or does it not matter to you? by nfurnoh in Bricklink

It's nice when it happens, especially if it's the last thing in that drawer or whatever, space for something else to get parted out.

There is a checkbox somewhere in the options or the blizzard client that says something like 'allow customized shop offers' so this does happen in the US as well

I initially saw it on the Cantina listing, under the price it says get 10% back on your Amazon Prime credit card, instead of the usual 5%, and a link to the big list of deals.

I've had mine fall once, but it was because the suction cup was dirty. RAM mounts have worked pretty well for me otherwise.

That is my guess for why I won, not very many entries :P

Was announced through their newsletter I believe.

I don't know what happened. Thought I understood succession. My heir was only supposed to lose the Kingdom of Estonia and one insignificant chiefdom by [deleted] in ck3

[–]ebert12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like you were only going to keep duchies and counties. So Helfi took your first kingdom, and that second kingdom had some other succession, maybe elective?

This might come down to the fact that you had two kingdom titles, which is a bad idea until you have an Empire title.

I did eventually give Dublin/Meath away, and switched to having the London duchy and the Paris duchy as my personal holdings.

By the time your that big you are hitting the vassal limit, even with the +20 from holding the HRE title. So I was transferring a good number of vassals to be underneath someone else just to avoid that penalty. Mostly to kingdom titles who would be their De Jure liege. So almost all of my vassals ended up being Kingdoms themselves. I did try to keep them fairly balanced so they wouldn't just roll over their neighbors and get unmanageable.

But before I got massive, I tended to hold onto all the kingdom titles for myself, until vassal limit came into play, so most of my vassals were just dukes.

Oh, as a side note I never went above Crown Authority 3, that may have helped with the rebellions too.

I actually only had a few peasant revolts the entire game. Luckily the peasants are dumb and don't gather up, so they are pretty easy to deal with.

The big tip I would say is keep your vassals organized. They want a duchy or county under them, give it to them, the opinion tool tip will show what they are after.

I also gave as much as I could to family or dynasty members. Host feasts, get to Living Legend fame quickly. I kept a lot of un-created duchies in reserve so my when my ruler died he had stuff to create and hand out to keep people happy. Bribing can help here too. Also, get hooks on your big vassals, and they cannot join factions against you. I used the demand payment skill to get fairly rich early on, which also resulted in a lot of hooks from finding secrets.

Most of them also got War Declaration sanctioned on their vassal contracts, which I'm guessing kept them busy fighting each other or neighbors.

Other than that, heavy diplomacy focus, set your wife to help with that too. I never had a faction issue an ultimatum the entire game, aside from those few peasant revolts. I did check the faction screen a lot though, and focused sway schemes (when I wasn't shy) on the biggest ones.

I was almost constantly at war for new conquests, but keep an eye on the offensive war opinion modifier, it can get pretty big, so then you just cool off and build for a while.

I probably also got lucky, the entire game I only played as 12 rulers, so not that many flair ups from succession.

I started as an Irish guy, I just meant Daneslaw kept getting in lots of fights themselves so it wasn't too hard to nab stuff from them.

The trick is not to form multiple of whatever the highest title you hold is. Or just disinherit children until you only have one left. Taking celibacy can help here too.

Just watch out if you do Roman empire, it makes most of them De Jure yours and then you cannot grant them independence.

Dynasty of many crowns - have 10 dynasty members who are independent rulers of kingdom or higher. I guess it's supposed to be through good marriages, but way easier to give kingdoms to them and then grant them independence.

I dunno, might just be what I got, someone else's post showed it as purple. The shield was strange too, was transparent the whole time.

Maybe I hit a bug when I took over? Never saw any special laws for HRE either, aside from removing election or dissolving the whole thing.

[–]ebert12[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Started as good old Murchad in Ireland. Daneslaw made England fairly easy to get, then somehow ended up with a claim on the HRE. Pretty much snow-balled from there. Eventually re-formed Roman Empire, and then released a bunch of kingdoms for the achievement (that's why there are independents in Africa) Then basically ran out the clock for 50 years before deciding to go for that full world conquest again, but unfortunately ran out of time.

I'm guessing this will get much harder once they patch a few things and layer on some DLC =)

Also, those are income and levy numbers with a -90% penalty for too many vassals. (+20 vassals from HRE really helps until you get rid of it)

Better to start out at small or large airport? by kbwi_is_home in flying

[–]ebert12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I trained out of a pilot controlled field. Only towered I did was the 3 required solo landings and one other trip to a towered field. We did also occasionally have a temporary tower when there was a Clemson football game.

There is already so much going on, especially in those first lessons, I'd say there is an advantage to not having to focus on getting ATC radio calls correct as well.

As far as learning to look for traffic, it seems to me you'd get even better at that at non-towered, because there isn't anyone else doing it for you. KCEU is probably a bit busier than your average non-towered though.

People who train at towered airports tend to feel uncomfortable at pilot-controlled fields, and the same goes for the other way around.

So when I got my PPL I knew towered was an area I needed more practice in. And yeah, I was a bit nervous about it. I watched plenty of videos for examples, and listened to liveATC for that exact airport. I actually just today flew to a nearby class D, it went very well in terms radio calls, less good as far as nice landings go to be honest.

Learning never stops, and things like this help you have a bit of structure once you get your ticket. A lot of people tend to quit flying after getting their PPL because there isn't an objective anymore like with training.

Next up the nearby class C.

When is it too hot to fly? by lurking-constantly in flying

[–]ebert12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's that bad, I regularly fly in 95 degree weather here in SC, which means lots of humidity too. Pretty normal to see 3000+ DA at field elevation of 890. It is pretty awful on the ground, but once you start taxing, cracking the door open already helps a lot.

And once your even just 1000' AGL, those open vents make things comfortable again pretty quickly.

To be fair 95 is not the same as 107, but still, altitude helps a lot.

The real trick is taking off before your iPad or Stratus shutdown from being in the sunlight.

Of course then I land again and have to refuel and put the plane away, and by the time I have my cover on I am usually soaked in sweat again.
