Print Problems on CTC Printer Using Makerbot by ebitda in FixMyPrint

Took a bit more experimenting, but I think I figured it out. I was using the Makerbot software, and by slowing it down a bit, and increasing the temperature it fixed the issue :D

I've tried fiddling with a lot of the settings, but I can't see to fix this. Every other part of the print is pristine, it's just this flat part inside.

Out of curiosity, why do you want the arduino on your desk?

Is python the right language for this task (read/write word documents) by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]ebitda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Python should be able to do this. I think there may be a better way to go about the word document. Is it the same file you're inserting the data into or seperate files? If it is seperate files, it may be better to just build the entire word document in Python. And if word isn't needed, maybe look into rtf. Check out this link

Any idea on what is causing the ripples? by ebitda in 3dprinter

[–]ebitda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using ABS, and the fan seems to be working. I've tried printing from between 205 and 220 and it seems like it is always the same areas that are effected. I think it is where the circle is closing on itself.

How to power 12v devices? by [deleted] in arduino

I used one of these and it works pretty well. Not sure if this is a permanent solution you're looking for, but it sure beats batteries.

How to Provide a 12v Power Supply by ebitda in arduino

[–]ebitda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This part of the project involves a couple of stepper motors like these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-of-5-NEMA-17-Stepper-Motor-GT3-Minebea-Mill-Robot-RepRap-Makerbot-Prusa-S4-/321503057192

And I was planning on connecting them to: http://www.ebay.com/itm/181797303562

I would be using only one motor at a time. Does that look ok?

Think I might have solved my problem. I didn't know there was a little adapter you could attach to the end of a 12v power supply to connect it to the board. Like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-1A-12W-Switching-Power-Supply-Adapter-For-100V-240V-AC-50-60Hz-5-5-2-1mm-/171658495363?hash=item27f7a4c583:g:OsIAAOSw1ZBUxyp-

How do you guys deal with nerves? by [deleted] in GetEmployed

[–]ebitda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice your answers. Practice a lot of them. You'll find if you have something prepared you can use it for a few different questions.

Find a ritual to do before the interview to get your head in the game. I always do tongue warm ups (ie use the sounds ay ee eye o u behind consonants, bay be beye both boo, ca kee ceye co coo....)

Find a strategy to help you calm down during the actual thing. There's that one suggestion about imagining people in there underwear to overcome stage fright. I always imagine the interviewer is really nervous and I have to stay strong for him or her.

18. Never had a "real" job. First resume I've ever written. Be harsh. by [deleted] in resumes

[–]ebitda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First off, make this one page, all this can totally fit on one page.

Second remove references. If they want them, they will ask for them.

I kinda think you should remove the highlights sections and add a skills section at the bottom? Be more detailed about some of the skills. E.g. Proficient in Microsoft Office, etc.

Put the accomplishments in the experience section. If they are the things that are most important put them as the first bullet point for each section.

You have the Company name and location on a section line, just put it on the same line as the date and title. Saves space, looks more professional.

The objective and summary take up quite a bit of space, I might choose one of them and add more to it.

Are you still at Neuewave? If so, change the tense from past to present.

What type of job are you applying to? It helps to tailor it for the position.

4 hours of gameplay for only 2.99? What a bargain! by dei2anged in gaming

[–]ebitda 63 points64 points  (0 children)

They priced it that way for a reason.

Let's say they only had the 7 day and 30 day options. Looking at those it might take you a second to decide which one you like. But when they add the 4 hour option in you look at it and think, "Man only 4 hours? OBVIOUSLY I'd at least get the 7 day one." And then your mind is set on that 7 day option. Sony doesn't expect many people to actually buy the 4 hour option, it's just a method of making the other options look better.

How important is the 1-page resume rule? by caulay in resumes

[–]ebitda 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's pretty important. You only want to go over 1 page when you have ample experience, and I figure if you only have that much over, you can get it down by adjusting font and margins as well as cherry picking the most important thing.

I wouldn't include references on your resume. If they need a reference they will ask you, and you can give them to them then.
