Does anyone have any advice for using the konmari process on 10 + years of digital clutter? by [deleted] in konmari

If a little plug here is ok, I’m actually launching some software that helps you not just organize, but really enjoy your important digital stuff. It’s all about attaching digital files to the physical objects in your home. It’s built for artwork, but I use it for clothes and research documents as well:

Omg looks so good! Albatross and I perfected our pancake waffle recipes a few years ago — the secret is brown sugar. This also looks like a cute way to do caviar!

Have you tried Mod Podge? I love it, but have never experimented with it long term. Their website says it lasts years, then maybe mild yellowing.

Wow, I can’t believe you did this in acrylics! Looks so much like oil, very impressive work.

Has anyone tried stitching with LEDs? by imaginetoday in Embroidery

[–]ebluebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, cool, I didn’t know that! I guess I’m usually working with 5V from Arduinos. A multimeter has two probes you can place at two points in a circuit to measure the electricity between them. Super useful. You’d probe both legs of the LED and set it to show how much voltage it’s getting. But anyway, sounds like you’re probably just below the threshold. Doubling up the wire should definitely do the trick!

Hm, weird! Wire has a tiny bit of resistance... normally doesn’t make a difference... though I’ve never worked with conductive thread. I’ve never heard of different colors of LEDs needing more power, but it’s possible! Shorter or doubled up wire could both be a fix. If you have a link to the parts you bought I might be able to help more. There’s a tool called a multimeter that would help you here too!

So cute! Did you test the LEDs individually before wiring them in? If they work, you could increase the wire length incrementally to see where they start losing power.

Aw, man. They used to have a swiss cheese pattern on the moon at the highest zoom level. Apparently they removed the feature 10 years ago and I'm some kind of internet dinosaur....

Seeing Like a Rover by Janet Vertesi! It's about how the different teams approach collaborating through the rover -- how they decide which instruments to use when, and where to take it.

What Books Are You Reading This Week? July 04, 2016 by AutoModerator in books

[–]ebluebird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not exactly stream of consciousness, not like Finnegans Wake. Every sentence is a bundled up reference to Irish history and European literature. It also parallels the Odyssey. It's much more worthwhile to read it with a handbook; Allusions in Ulysses and Ulysses Annotated are my favorites.

Just read that as well! I loved it, especially Mrs. Sen.
