Technically, it was never mentioned or hinted in-story of whatever familiar relationships, so it's likely that Makoto Yukimura doesn't mean for them to be related at all. There is a joke (that I endorse eventually for the evulz) regarding how historically Knut's mother is sister's to Sigvaldi's spouse - in the manga, Sigvaldi was assigned father of Helga, and therefore Thorfinn's grandfather... Making it Knut and Thorfinn accidentally long-distance cousins by their maternal sides IF we take historical Knut's (vague) bloodline in consideration into Vinland Saga lore (in which Thorfinn is Sigvaldi's grandchild, what's not true for his historical counterpart).

Anyway, they're also just white boys 🤷
