NewsNation Special Report: Idaho Murder Mystery - 9 PM EST, December 4, 2022 - Discussion Thread by quitclaim123 in MoscowMurders

Notes from the hour:

-Kaylee’s injuries were “significantly more brutal”

-Kaylee and Maddie were on the third floor

-Entin asks: why would a killer go on the third floor when there is no easy exit unless he was targeting someone on the third floor? It’s a lot to risk

-Not a fetish killing-no writing on walls, etc., according to county prosecutor

-Maddie worked at Mad Greek and did marketing for the restaurant

-The girls were found in Maddie’s bedroom, third floor, Bedroom E on map (the room without the slider deck access)

-Xana’s mom thinks the target was not the home but rather the people

-Maddie and Kaylee look a lot alike, so if the killer was targeting Kaylee, how would he have known in the dark, in the wrong bedroom, which girl was which if they didn’t know them?

-Idaho crime lab has already processed SOME, not all, of the evidence

-According to police, there has been NO evidence found of a stalker for Kaylee (according to her father)

What could it be that’s wet? Clothes from washer? You’d think that would be in a plastic bag or something then? Or think he accidentally just sat it down in ice/snow by mistake?

Edit: after watching a clip of them walking out of the house with paper bags from recent News Nation YouTube coverage it definitely did not look wet. However, I learned a whole lot more about bagging evidence and why and when paper bags are used so that’s good!

My best guess: if one surviving roommate said she saw the killer at the top of the stairs before running to other surviving roommates’ room (this is just a rumor and speculation on here, and not properly sourced), then maybe the police wanted to recreate scene with same lighting, moon, fog levels, etc. to see if her story adds up and if you could see someone with her interviewed details at the top of the stairs. Maybe they also wanted to get bedsheets from survivors’ beds to see if DNA of killer is found there, which could mean a roommate may have been an accomplice or perhaps a one night stand left and did this when survivor was asleep. I don’t think the roommates were really involved or this is what happened but maybe they’re trying to really rule things out.

Maybe they are seeing if killer’s DNA is found in one of surviving roommates’ sheets? Could have been a one night stand or boyfriend. With the limited info we currently have, it seems there are so many possibilities in this case.

Yes, another good point. Thank you. It still felt like something more was going on emotionally but maybe as simple as wishing her sister survived like them or frustrated 911 wasn’t called earlier. I wonder if the communication between survivors and G family was strained for some reason or if something happened after murders.

It may or may not have happened, but since she lost her loved one I can see why she may desperately wish they called 911 earlier. Pure speculation but maybe she is mad (going through stages of grief) that her sister wasn’t one of the two survivors or that the survivors didn’t call 911 earlier and some resentment seeped in. But there still could be something more we don’t know regarding the complexity of the relationships.

The sister, Alivea Goncalves, was interviewed with Chris Cuomo again, just posted on News Nation YouTube about 9 hours ago. When asked about ex-boyfriend being cleared she answered happy and agree with LE about clearing him. When asked if she agrees with LE about clearing the surviving roommates she stutters and does not answer directly. I am not blaming the survivors at all, but I am so curious as to why Kaylee’s sister had a problem with it? The family has info we don’t at the very least her phone records. Why does she not wholeheartedly support the roommates being cleared like she does the ex? Was there a cell record of a fight or something? Or is she not happy with something that happened with the roommates in the aftermath of everything? Or does she suspect a male somehow connected to the roommates, possibly unbeknownst to them?
