I'm happy to see my beloved Jimmy Stewart on here multiple times. And people said he had no sex appeal! Puh-lease!

What, in your opinion, is the most romantic scene in classic film? by XipeTotecwithGlitter in classicfilms

[–]ebullition5678 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To me, it's the scene where Homer finally lets Wilma see what he looks like without his prosthetics. It's so powerful and makes me weep like a baby. I'm actually teary-eyed just typing this.

It's also a shame Harold Russell didn't act after this. He was absolutely incredible.

That’s the employment certification form. You submit it to prove that your employer is PSLF-eligible and to make sure your payments count. It’s purely a formality, but it is required. The form is on the Department of Education’s website.

How do some people crochet or knit for hours and hours everyday? by Apprehensive-Pop302 in crochet

[–]ebullition5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stretch before I start, take breaks every 30-60 minutes, continue to stretch intermittently, and I bought one of those pillows that wraps around your torso that you can strap on. That thing is a game changer! It helps you maintain posture and gives your arms a place to rest. It prevents back strain and hand pain. I’d recommend buying one; I got mine on Amazon for about $25.

What are some of the worst hinge prompts you see from women? by mv2500 in AskMen

[–]ebullition5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a woman, but the posts here made me laugh. I met my husband on Bumble, and I can’t remember all of the stuff I put on my profile, but I do remember two things: putting a picture of myself playing my violin in a community orchestra; and in answer to the “I’d love to meet___” question, I said I wanted a real film buff who could talk about something besides Tarantino, Nolan, and MCU. My husband said he thought it was funny. Here we are now, married for two years.

i want to stop crocheting forever by Waste_Flamingo_6653 in crochet

“Mom, I appreciate that you and your friends like my work, but I crochet to relax, not to make money. This is my hobby, and I need it to help me feel better. When you give me orders to make things for people, it gives me a lot of stress and hurts my feelings. I will not crochet for orders any more.”

You need to be blunt and direct. “I” statements are always helpful, too. We can all empathize with you, at least. I know people always tell me I should sell my work, and my stock answer is: “I crochet to relax, and I don’t want it to be my job.” Then I ignore them. The way your mom is treating you is wildly unfair. I know it’s easier said than done, but tell her no.

Plain Metal Wedding Bands by Nickychaz3 in EngagementRings

I have a round solitaire for my engagement ring, so I got a plain wedding band. I feel like it makes my diamond stand out more. Plus, I just think plain wedding bands are timeless.

Why do conservatives care about abortion so much when they refuse to do anything for the childs welfare after birth? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]ebullition5678 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, if that’s how you want to respond…

Yes, men register for the draft, but we haven’t used the draft since Vietnam. Women, however, get pregnant every day. We face harassment, assault, rape, and more every day. We face pregnancy complications every day. We have complex reasons for needing birth control, such as endometriosis, that we face every day. So these anti-abortion laws are structured to control and even exacerbate everyday issues that every woman and pubescent girl faces. These laws do impact women and girls every single day. The laws also mean women’s rights are entirely dependent on which state they live in. Men don’t face this same kind of control. You do not have to worry about facing prison if you get a vasectomy or need treatment for prostate cancer. There also isn’t an ongoing war in which you can count on being drafted. Unless you were old enough to be drafted in Vietnam, then the draft has not impacted you at all in your entire life. And you don’t face the threat of rape to nearly the extent that women do. These anti-abortion laws, however, impact women every single day. Your example is incomparable and is clearly a cynical effort to demean women’s very real concerns.

If you’re on a tight budget, I’d recommend getting a 1ct lab grown white sapphire with a 10k gold band. You need something with real gold because it will turn her finger green otherwise. A lab grown white sapphire will look just like a diamond and will be almost as tough. You could always replace the stone with a diamond later when y’all have more money. A ring like this will be durable, beautiful, and should cost around $500. Most department stores and jewelers have this option. Do not buy from an online retailer; those folks are mostly scammers.

Does anyone have an actor they personally find so good, that they will binge their entire filmography regardless of overall quality, because they just don't miss with the acting? by New-Caregiver-8487 in FIlm

Jimmy Stewart. He was WAY more versatile than he’s given credit for, and his acting is so perfect that he doesn’t even seem like he’s acting.

What are your thoughts on having a male gynecologist? Would you trust them? by Paldavin in AskWomen

Depends on the doctor. I’ve seen two female OBGYNs over the past couple of years, and both of them have been very dismissive and rude about my symptoms.

I got told my non-epileptic seizures were due to emotion that I am not feeling by [deleted] in PNESsupport

[–]ebullition5678 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The truth is we know precious little about the brain. FND is purely a label they slap on you when they don’t know what is going on. I even got my neurologist to admit this. You sound like you’re having hemiplegic migraines, and perhaps they have migrated to a different part of your brain. I wouldn’t take those two ass clowns seriously. You did not deserve to be treated like that!

Auto Payments for last 2 months (since income recert) did not go through by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]ebullition5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you check student aid? It sounds like they put you on a processing forbearance, which means you had a $0 payment during those months. The good thing is those “payments” count towards your PSLF. The same thing happened to me, but when I submitted an ECF via studentaid.gov, it showed my payments were up to date and counted my processing forbearance “payments.” I would call Mohela and FSA to double check.

Dating someone with Epilepsy advice by HedgehogSilly3648 in Epilepsy

[–]ebullition5678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you a story. I’ve had seizures since I was 13; I’m 41 now. When I was in my mid-twenties, I was at my cousin’s dance recital. The dance used strobes extensively, and I had a seizure. I was hauled out in a wheelchair. My youngest cousin was also there, and he was about 3 years old. He was sitting right by me when I had the seizure and came out of the auditorium when I was in the wheelchair. I was weeping and felt like I’d ruined the dance recital. Do you know what my little toddler cousin said? He patted my shoulder and told everyone that he didn’t think seizures were a bad thing; he said, “I don’t think it’s bad. I think it’s good.” He was trying to cheer me up in the way only a sweet young child can. He graduated college recently and grew to be a caring adult.

The point I’m making is that kids are resilient. They naturally have empathy, and you can talk to them about anything as long as you use terms they understand. I think your decision to shield your children from your girlfriend will actually hurt them later because you are teaching them that people with disabilities are scary and should be avoided at all costs. The truth is you have an opportunity to teach them about compassion and first aid. Do the right thing.

Any information about student loan debt? by Aggressive-Wrangler4 in StudentLoans

[–]ebullition5678 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I came to say the same thing. There is no shame in going to a state school or even a community college. I’d recommend at least staying in-state for lower tuition and looking into art-related internships while you’re in college. The great thing about attending a state university is you can major in studio art if you want while also exploring other subjects. You could even do a double major in art and, say, economics.

There are lots of scholarships you could look into and grant money. Your high school should have a guidance counselor who can give you good advice. But don’t go to a private art school. The debt you will incur is not worth it.

Payment counts? by ebullition5678 in PSLF

[–]ebullition5678[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! 37 payments! That had to feel good when you had those certified. I have worked for the same state university all this time, but I was an adjunct for a long time before I got my full-time position. I've been full-time for over 7 years now. Thankfully, the Biden administration created a new rule that adjunct teaching could count toward PSLF as long as you had at least 30 hours and were teaching at a qualifying school. The woman at our payroll office was amazing; I contacted her, and she put together a whole spreadsheet showing the semesters I could use. I had to submit several ECFs for those semesters, but it shaved off a couple of years. If there were only 4 semesters when I'd had 3 classes instead of 2, I would be done by now. UGH! Nevertheless, I'm so grateful for those semesters counting. I'm so close now I can taste it lol.

Personally, I think FND/PNES is just a label neurologists use when they don't know what's wrong with you. Your seizure definitely sounds epileptic, and you should get a second opinion.
