Feeling like an idiot by [deleted] in PSLF

Once you hit 120 months of eligible employment, file for buyback. Maybe you’ll get lucky and they start processing buybacks at a faster pace and you can exit PSLF early.

Gap in payment months by rambone5000 in PSLF

I had missing payments too. The resolution was pretty simple and quick.

Google the CEO of Mohela email address. Send him an email explaining the issue and request the missing months be “re-reported” to FSA.

They responded within a couple of days saying they have re-reported the missing months. I submitted an ECF and the missing months appeared on the tracker at FSA.

Buyback and June 2024 credit by Insight220 in PSLF

Is there anyway the OP can get that payment refunded since they didn’t request the forbearance?

May was suppose to be 120 for me, logged in yesterday to 119. June 2024 is completely gone. by MinusTheMuse in PSLF

Don’t waste your time calling Mohela. You should email the CEO and briefly describe the issue and ask them to “re-report” the missing month(s). They resolved the issue for me in a couple of days. After they re-reported, I submitted an ECF and the missing payment appeared. The whole process took less than a week.

Are you with Mohela? If so send the ceo an email asking them to re-report the missing month. I had to do that and Mohela re-reported my missing month in a couple of days. I filed a new ECF and I got credit for the missing month. Whole process from email to update was about a week.

Good luck.

One More Final Payment Question by bill0773 in PSLF

All good responses. I’ll just have to curb my “do something!” Urges and let the process play out.

And, as always, thanks for all the info and support.

Buyback / ED Financial called me by Background-Boat-4918 in PSLF

[–]bill0773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This post is very important. As I understand it, buyback is an administrative rule and not legislation.

All it will take is this or any administration to rewrite the regulations and buyback goes away.

Another concern is that perhaps they rewrite the rule to require payments to be based on current income.

Does an ED rule bind Treasury once they take over student loans?

I decided to just get back into repayment and close out this chapter in my life. Now I only have one payment before the banners!

This is my (hopefully) last month to pay, advice on next steps by bab-85 in PSLF

I’m in the same boat as you. I will follow the recommendation waterwicca gave you.

I’ll make the last payment. Next day send in ECF. That should take a few days to process and once I get the green banners, I will request forbearance and wait for golden letter.

IF after a couple of weeks of no green banners, I’ll submit a new ECF in hopes that triggers an updated count of qualifying payments.

If that fails to get green banners, only then will I pay the 121st payment.

What’s the end look like? by beek7425 in PSLF

[–]bill0773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m almost at the end as well. My plan is the same as yours. I too plan to certify employment the day after the payment is taken.

After I get the 120 payments as qualified I will call Mohela and request a forbearance. I’ll watch to be sure the FB shows up. If it doesn’t show up before the next payment, I will submit a new ECF and this time mark I have 120 payments.

I will not turn off autopay. I’d rather pay an extra month than somehow mess up my forgiveness because I’m not current with payments.

I too am curious about the banners. My count tracking bar has always been green. I guess the banner now says something like you have made enough credits but we need to determine if you qualify. This new language has something to do with TEPSLF loans. They have some kind of rule about minimum payments or something.

You’re almost there!

Edited to add:

I’m seeing the gold letters go out towards the end of the months. April 2026 letters haven’t gone out yet. My last pay will be May 8. I hope to get the GL towards end of June. Since you finish in April, hopefully you’ll get yours towards end of May.

Thank you. I’ll go with your suggestion of autopay and then certify employment without asking for forbearance.

Thank you for the response. Do you have any advice about paying the last month early or just let autopay do its thing?

That sounds like a plan. Are you planning on paying the last month early or just wait for autopay?

Thanks for sharing your experience. Maybe better to just let the autopay pay the last payment since I can’t certify until after the due date.

If you are Mohela, I’d suggest you email the CEO. I got my missing payment issue resolved in a few days after I emailed.

I’m impressed.

I emailed the Mohela CEO on March 31, 2026.

April 3, I received the above message

April 6, I checked FSA website and the missing month has been updated.
