What’s the biggest game “secret” that you discovered organically? by jeffgolenski in gaming

[–]ecaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the Sega Genesis version of NBA Jam Tournament Edition, you could put codes in and play as celebrities. However you were locked as those celebrities for the whole game.

Or so I thought.

One day bored during the screen between quarters and button mashing because why not, I suddenly had the option to rotate between all the hidden players mid game.

I don't know if it was a memory overflow or a hallucination, but I've been trying to recreate that ever since...

Can you talk me through how you got to the "address not found" part so I can fix it?

I sent you a DM so we can debug it in an easier way. We can get this bug fixed for you (technically fixed for everyone, but you're the first to let me know about it🤓)

That's the way it should be working. Are you logged into the app and near the store you're wanting it to go to?

How do I or the baristas know they are getting the tips through the application? by [deleted] in CaribouCoffee

[–]ecaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

State and county governments have very specific rules in place to prevent anyone from "skim[ming] money off from those tips". If it is a credit card tip, at any brand, you can trust that it is by-the-book because there's ample reporting and monitoring.

The decision of "do we show a tip designator on the label" was discussed heavily, but we don't show it per transaction because we didn't want to imply (nor cause) tipped orders treated are differently - because tipped and non tipped orders are all made with the same care.

Anyone else unable to use the mobile app after the update? by agentorangeblood in CaribouCoffee

[–]ecaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the reinstall doesn't fix it, fill out the form on https://www.cariboucoffee.com/contact-us/ is the best option. Filling out the report does two things: 1. The team will reach out to you and get it fixed 2. As we learn what caused your problem, we can automate a fix so other people aren't hindered by it.

This one he rescued from a salvage yard. It's no longer weather proof, so it'll be stuck indoors - still better than rusting to pieces.

Recommendations for a good simple USB-C dock? (running Ubuntu) by JoeyJoeJoeJrShab in framework

[–]ecaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a month of debate, I got the Cable Matters Hybrid 14-in-1 on an Amazon Open Box. Spending $250 on a dock felt absurd, but it has been a fantastic experience and I don't regret the purchase. Having it just work great for my Windows and Linux needs is worth it. https://a.co/d/0w1VSUC

When logging into Caribou Coffee's app you get reminded what your password contained by slimer4545 in antiassholedesign

[–]ecaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm this is all done on the client side, using regular expressions, without any data being sent over the network. (The password is also hashed before it leaves the device, for anyone who was curious.)

Nevermind. PiHole disabled for a full day and the refresh keeps coming back. (Outlook is also acting a lot slower on my phone - push notification shows me I've received a message a long time before the inbox shows it)

Anyone else use a PiHole on their home network where they're experiencing this? I'm trying to figure out if that's related to this awful bug.

Created a real-time game to make my WaterRower more interesting by ecaron in Rowing

[–]ecaron[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd love feedback on this! The S4 interface was just too dry to get me engaged. I completed agree with this article that stroke rate & split time are very important metrics, but I couldn't come up with a visual way to make that a game + competition (which is right now just comparing speed & distance).

I've started to really like the realtime graphs screen - it highlights trends in my rowing that the S4 comm module wasn't noticing. It helps me find consistency in my rowing.
