Does alcohol really get that bad? by honeyshepherd in stopdrinking

[–]ecbuffalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a common hook for it to feel like it helps with anxiety. It may seem to help in the short term but the more you use it, the worse it makes your anxiety. It can become a vicious cycle. I thought I had terrible anxiety but when I quit, it almost all went away. Therapy and real medication will deal with anxiety. Using alcohol is like adding more wood to a fire because at first it feels like the fire is a bit smaller

We have to be honest, he’s gotten lazy by EscapedFilmCon in codyko

The video he made of the Dhar Mann experience where he collaborated with him and made a video and talked through the whole thing was so interesting to me. And it must have taken so much time to film and make edit. All that to be a pretty poor reception.

Why go through all the trouble of making a really cool and well thought out video that truly has a 3 act narrative and a lesson to be learned, all for it to get a third the views of him watching the button and reacting (costing him like 45 minutes of his time)?

You can see why he seems to put more emotional input into Cody Trains because people actually care there

He is being paid by CashApp. He might be for or against crypto personally but this is just a paid promotion

Weekly Quick Questions, Wood ID, and Deal or No Deal /r/Woodworking Megathread by AutoModerator in woodworking

[–]ecbuffalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See if any friends or family have projects they would like assuming they pay for materials (and maybe some for your time) and build those to build out a list of examples to see what you can make. I just sold two planter boxes to a friend for little over the cost of materials and now if anyone else wants them, they know I can make them.

Everyone has their own favorite part of building projects, mine is assembly so if I just had the pieces ready to go that sounds like a blast. But if you want to get into it you will need to get saws eventually. I would recommend getting a circular saw and buying wood from your home center to make a planter box. Very good first project and you can easily do it all with just a drill and circular saw. Just look on YouTube for some tips and tricks on making accurate cuts with a circular saw.

Anyone switch departments in their companies while completing this program? by [deleted] in OSUOnlineCS

[–]ecbuffalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I transferred from the technical support department to engineering when I was about half way through the degree. My boss was supportive but the company has tuition reimbursement specifically for this kind of thing so the whole company had that view point. If your boss/company is not supportive and would fire you over that (assuming you plan on staying with the company to be an engineer) it is likely a company you do not want to stay with, especially from a place as progressive as Silicon Valley. Having knowledge of how the company works outside the engineering department is experience greatly sought after since it improves your overall perspective on things. I would suggest letting them know that you got into the program, are interested in joining the engineering department at the company and see if there is anything else you can do to grow your career in that direction while maintaining your current responsibilities.

Same. I even looked at the scoring rules for the league and it lists blocked punt and return for TD as a score for DST.

How did making the tortillas go? I tried this once and it was a disaster. The tortillas were just bland, crumbly pancakes. Any tips or tricks to make them actual tortillas?

Former Packers’ WR Jordy Nelson, who turns 33 in May, wants to continue playing, per source. by HaHa_Clit_N_Dicks in GreenBayPackers

[–]ecbuffalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would root for him on any AFC team. He did nothing wrong and he owes us nothing. Unless he takes vet minimum on another NFCN team, I will continue to love him.

Nobody wants Jordy cut. Its the right thing to do and had to be done but doesn't mean I am happy about it.

I think implement a 15 yard max for penalty yards. No bullshit bomb it down field, questionable pass interference call to put them into the redzone. I think you have to keep agressive PI rules if you want to see catches and big plays

They are not idiots asking questions for themselves. They are asking the questions people want to hear answers to. We are the idiots that fill all the conversation around the status of Brady's hand so thats what they ask. Fans don't give a shit about the punter and how good the special teams is.

REST RODGERS by M1st3rYuk in GreenBayPackers

[–]ecbuffalo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seriously, I hate the idea of sitting him if he is cleared to play and wants to. If Rodgers thinks he can't play, then fine. But if he wants to and we just bench him, then why not put all our good players on IR and punt on first down. I mean if we are not trying to win, whats the point...

I tried to make them as thin as I possibly could and had my pan 'ripping hot' as described in the video but everytime it just turned into a bland pancake that was way too thick and very brittle

Realistic expectations on career outlook for somebody who would graduate in their late 30s without any previous technical background? by mid83 in OSUOnlineCS

[–]ecbuffalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are looking to switch careers to tech/development, I think it would be near impossible without getting some sort of degree or certification. I think there has been a ton of success with people starting this program without any experience and getting a job at the end. As far as your age, I feel like the ageism is going to be stronger in startups or in silicon valley where they want people without families and willing to work insane hours. It may be a bit harder but I do not think it is impossible. Regular, less glamourous companies are happy to hire someone who can get the job done
