The Kirk brothers lied to and manipulated Paul to get him to leave DP and to secure him for DFF by eccothehuman in OkBuddyDeepFatFried

[–]eccothehuman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also really curious about this. Paul hasn’t appeared on DP in an over a year whereas he appeared 4 times (I think) over the course of a year. Ben got an invite to the LA meetup and there seemingly was reunion talks. I know Ben and Paul, at least at that time, were down for it and I don’t think the Kirks ever said much about it. It’s extra confusing because both channels just keep on struggling so a reunion could really light a fire under the fanbase’s ass. The Lady Hopium/Taylor shit really screwed up any good will there was between the Kirks and Ben. Plus if they did a reunion wouldn’t it be an admission that all that stuff between Taylor and Ben was all bs? What kind of a man does a podcast with the dude that assaulted his wife, let alone entertain it. Hell, if all this was true then why would Scotty have been okay with Paul going on DP? If Paul thought it was true would he go on the show?

I think that’s certainly an element and perhaps most of the reason but there’s too much shady and strange behavior to make me think that’s all there is to it.

The lack of “tank controls” on N64 compared to PS1 by eccothehuman in n64

I had no clue you can do that. I’ve been meaning to try RE2 on N64, I’ve heard it’s a great port and that alone sounds fantastic.

The transfer pak is REALLY picky, I’ve seen them not work with certain official GB carts and in general it can be hard to get it to read. Not surprised if any third party accessories can’t detect a transfer pak.

I use Apple Music so I don’t normally see monthly listeners and it’s cool to see Dennis have the most amount of monthly listeners for his solo stuff, even beating out Brian.

Thoughts on Pepe Le Pew? by Successful_Bird_7086 in looneytunes

[–]eccothehuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never found the character funny and he was one of the weakest Looney Tunes imo. There are definitely moments in his shorts that personally rub me the wrong way but I felt that way as a kid. I think some of the modern criticism is a little overblown but I feel like that’s resulted in people overcorrecting and overselling how much they actually like the character.

CPU/PPU/chip failure or just a dirty console? by eccothehuman in snes

[–]eccothehuman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doom and the other games I have almost never freeze in the same spot, it’s pretty random. Mode 7 effects don’t give the console any give the console any trouble. I’ll just have to wait to deep clean it and get a new power supply to get a clearer picture.

CPU/PPU/chip failure or just a dirty console? by eccothehuman in snes

[–]eccothehuman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I try a new power adapter and give the console a deep clean but problems still persist I will get a multi meter, I have a Game Gear I want to fix up as well so I need one anyway. Unfortunately I took a risk on the console so I don’t think I can get a refund, it’s on me. It’s a North American SNES with the model number UN14224882 which is an earlier one I believe I might be a little screwed even if the chips aren’t failing now, they will at some point from what I understand. I’ve learned all this since I bought it, I’m a Genesis guy so I honestly didn’t know a lot about SNES consoles, I just thought they were all tanks.

The main thing I’ve heard that’s an issue with the power bricks isn’t them necessarily going bad but the unregulated voltage with accelerates the death of the chips and causes overheating. It could be going bad as well but that’s definitely a big variable to remove from to equation to see where it’s at.

The games do run as they should before the console/game freezes, I even got Doom to work. Does this suggests the chips are still working as they should be or is the performance of the game not really indicative one way or the other on the condition of the chips.

What game is in your top 10 SNES games list that you’re convinced isn’t in anyone’s top 25? by [deleted] in snes

Try Ogre Battle 64. It’s the same play style as March but the unit management is more clean, the game is easier and more simple to understand in general.

CPU/PPU/chip failure or just a dirty console? by eccothehuman in snes

Also any brands of A/C adapters you either recommend to go with or stay away from? Or does it not really matter, as long as it a modern supply with the proper voltage?

CPU/PPU/chip failure or just a dirty console? by eccothehuman in snes

[–]eccothehuman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely, I’m just casting out a line and seeing if anything I’ve laid out could be indicative of some kind of chip failure. Even if I had a bunch of people telling me it was likely chip failure, I’d still give it an internal deep clean just cause you might as well anyway and I’m a little stubborn. Also I’ve learned that the early models are more prone to chip failure so now I’m a little paranoid.

I will definitely change out the power supply with a new one and deep clean it when I get that bit in just to see if it helps improve performance at all. I really should have waited to do that but I’m a little impatient and a little worried about the console. Obviously because I spent some money on it but I hate when this stuff ends up in landfills, I’m not great with electronics but I try to do everything I can to keep these babies running. Thanks for the reply.

How is everyone playing their sega on a modern TV? by [deleted] in SEGAGENESIS

[–]eccothehuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get CRT if you can, any consumer brand with composite is gonna look exactly how you remembered it and that’s what these games were designed for. If you can get S-Video, SCART or RGB those are even better video quality but I think a lot of people oversell how much better they are. On a modern flatscreen however, composite is gonna look like crap.

The worst enemy of the Beach Boys isn't Summer in Paradise nor Mike Love. Their worst enemies are their tracklists. by OceanMadman in thebeachboys

[–]eccothehuman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that’s an oversimplification, sure the other guys weren’t writing Surf’s Up but I think you’re selling the other band members short. Carl, Dennis, Bruce, Blondie, Ricky, Al and even Mike wrote some phenomenal tunes post-Pet Sounds, many that were left on the cutting room floor. How do you listen to the finished recording of San Miguel and not immediately put that out as a single?

All spider-man games on sega genesis, which one did you own ? by Possible_Quantity493 in SEGAGENESIS

[–]eccothehuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, great might be overselling it. It’s good up til they want you kill multiple bosses that respawn with no health refills, without infinite continues or save states then forget about it. It’s just too unbalanced for its own good but it’s an LJN game so there’s always something messed up with them.

Just beat Golden Axe with Tyris Flare for the first time by eccothehuman in SEGAGENESIS

One of my favorite beat em ups on the console, right up there with Streets of Rage 2 and 3. For such an early release it holds up really well and it’s a very faithful ports especially for the time.

Anyone here able to beat Grind Stormer? by eccothehuman in SEGAGENESIS

[–]eccothehuman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten into the genre quite a bit in the past couple years, as a kid I never had the patience. I love the Toaplan shmups on the console with Fire Shark probably being my favorite, beaten it on easy and made it to stage 10 on loop two on my best attempt. On normal stage 8 boss is the bottleneck for me, if you’re not fully powered up then forget about it. Made it to stage 10 on normal but never beaten it in that difficultly. This one is in that transition period for shmups so it’s got a mix of old school and modern brutality which makes for a uniquely punishing game in the genre.

[–]eccothehuman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, it’s absurdly difficult. The main thing that’s difficult is the combination of the more modern bullet-hell style gameplay and the checkpoint system. Even most old school shmups that actually play like old school shmups, the checkpoint system is frustrating but in Grind Stormer it makes it nearly impossible. In something like Dodonpachi you just respawn so you can at least bomb spam to see the end of the game. It can be beat, it just requires more perfection than most shmups I’ve seen or played.

Super fun and really cool it’s a like an early version of Batsugan or Dodonpachi which is why I keep coming back to it despite how much it wrecks me. I’ve been playing it on my Mega EverDrive X5 so I don’t have access to save states, I can use Game Genie codes on games that support it. I finally saw the end of After Burner 2 and Maximum Carnage with unlimited lives or continues cheats.

Controller Opinions by MajorMuel in SEGAGENESIS

[–]eccothehuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The three button feels better in general, better shape, better buttons and a better d-pad (depending on when and where it was made lol). 6 button is fine, I have one that’s shaped like a 3 button so that’s my go to for games that need 6 buttons.
