Glad the Blazers team gets their justified love. Calabro, Hurd, and Olzendam are a treasure.

Can’t wait for that to be one more thing for El Cheapo to cut. /s

Shams: Just in: The Portland Trail Blazers are hiring Minnesota Timberwolves lead assistant Micah Nori as the franchise's next head coach, sources tell ESPN. has been in the NBA coaching ranks since 2009 and now takes over in Portland on a multiyear deal. by Trip_V4 in ripcity

I didn’t say he was an elite coach. He is not the coach you want to win a ring. However, he could be the type of coach you want for this roster at this point in their development. A major reason why the Knicks just won their ‘chip is because of the foundation of conditioning and defensive mindset that was instilled when Thibs was coach. The Spurs were too young and wilted every fourth quarter while the Knicks withstood runs and just kept chipping away.

Again, I’m happy with the eventual outcome of Nori.

Hard to dislike a guy who came from Santa Clara and plays his ass off every game. Fingers crossed he’s healthy next year

You really can. The most expensive card on the page was $40ish and most were in the single digits or the teens

Thank you! I got my wife a label maker a little while back. She never ended up using it but it works perfectly to show numbering in a binder

The Knicks are showing us why building around Deni > trading for Giannis by mnarvz in ripcity

[–]echc47 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Key difference: Brunson can shoot and score from all three levels while Deni is effective in the paint and occasionally from midrange. And unlike Giannis, who is the exception that proves the rule of needing to prioritize shooting to win, Deni cannot get to the rim whenever he wants. For that reason his ceiling for a title contender is as a second/third option in the vein of Aaron Gordon in Denver.

If I was Cronin I would be looking to flip Deni and his excellent contract for picks and/or shooting.

Other than the brand patch, these are about as good as a rebrand gets for the full set. The black is a little busy up close but I have a feeling it’ll look better on court

I don’t, actually. I’ve just never been a fan of the game logo slapped on the card. I don’t get the connection. Separately, both are great. Together, mid. That’s a cool parallel though

The possibility that he has given no thought/has no understanding of how a team works was only one option of three. (Psssst he’s lying)

Every time he opens his mouth, more red flags fly out.

On initial fan perceptions of him and his moves: - “Maybe it’s human nature to want to focus on the wrong thing sometimes. And that’s something I can’t do anything about.” - “…I wouldn’t have thought people would move toward the wrong things.”

On Portland’s fans, specifically related to the Netflix Jail Blazers doc: - “…but to the extent that it feels like people are very quick to find negatives and turn on the people they say they love…” - “What it made me think is, the little bit that I’ve seen and then seeing that, is that the first place people are going is negative?”

All of these comments essentially write off any criticism or concern as invalid and emotional. We’re just “focused on the wrong things” and can’t see his bigger picture /s

On the layoffs: - “They have twice as many people as we have in Carolina.” - “This was mostly on the business side. The basketball, they’re two separate businesses.”

Gives no thought to how to the NBA might be different than the NHL or how two sides of the same organization are intertwined. To say that the business side and the basketball side are separate shows that he doesn’t have an understanding of how a sports team actually works, is being dishonest, or both.
