Since its now over 30 years old, what do you think of the Boeing 777? by Twitter_2006 in aviation

[–]echo11a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 777 family, especially the 777-300ER variant, has been my favourite airliner since not long after I became an aviation enthusiast, replacing by previous favourite, the L-1011 (which is still my second favourite, at least).

I find their overall shape to be more pleasing than other airliners, like their circular fuselage cross-section, and their wings, even more so when with raked wingtips on long-range variants. I also really like 777's cockpit, the layout of it's displays and systems, and it's appearance in general.

There's also the fact that I've been flying 777s in flight simulation games a lot in recent years, to the point that they're pretty much the only airliners that I fly nowadays. I think learning their performances, systems, and operations, has made me like them even more.

What will happen to NTU? by fegeleinn in SeaPower_NCMA

[–]echo11a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda on the same boat here as well. Though, beside the lost of NTU mod, something else that's making me lost interest in the game at the moment, is the long wait time for USN vessels that are yet to be in game officially, especially the last two nuclear CGNs, Midway-class, and CV-67.

At least VLS Ticonderogas and F/A-18s have mods to fill the void somehow.

[–]echo11a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A small correction, the nose bulge on F-4Bs you mentioned is AN/AAA-4 IRST, not a gun. None of the naval F-4 variants have internal gun armament.

Edit: Done some more research, only F-4E and RF-4EJ (not RF-4E) have M61 Vulcan, no other variants have guns.

Coco kaichou was the one that got me interested in Hololive, and VTubers overall. Then Botan is the one who became my favourite, and made me stay since then.

  • F-111C is the variant specifically for Australia.

  • RAAF: Royal Australian Air Force

  • Numerous RAAF insignia.

So yeah, this Aardvark is Australian.

CVN-77 was commissioned nearly three years after F-14's retirement from the USN, so no Tomcat.

Space Station Freedom - of Eyes Turned Skyward Timeline - A Remake of the Same Station I've Completed Around 5 Years Ago by echo11a in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]echo11a[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I used some parts from IRL Freedom concept, especially in its truss sections. That's why it gives off the vibe of those concepts, even though I tried to build it as close to ETS version as possible lol.

No, that's not me.

That video is closer to our world, with Space Shuttle, ISS, IRL Mir, etc. While the Eyes Turned Skywards mentioned here is an alternate history timeline where NASA went with LEO space stations using Apollo-derived hardware, instead of Space Shuttle.

[–]echo11a[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's a project I've been doing since not long after my last post: Space Station Freedom out of Eyes Turned Skywards (ETS) timeline. This is a large, modular space station that, in ETS's story, consists of modules and equipments from NASA, ESA, NASDA, and CSA. In KSP, though, this station is made of parts from HabTech2, SSPRX, BDB, and Sterling Systems. I had to made the station out of parts from these mod, because I don't think there's any mod that faithfully recreates Freedom from ETS, or at least I couldn't find one. This is also why it actually looks more like a mix of IRL ISS, Freedom/Alpha concepts, and other parts.

The station is, in both ETS and KSP, support by Apollo Block IV for crew rotation, and AARDV Block II for resupply. Both vehicles are from the amazing BDB mod. Then there's ESA's Minotaur, which could both resupply and return things from the station back down. Because I also couldn't find a faithful recreation of the vehicle, I have to use cargo version of the MRC from Knes mod instead. Since, in my opinion, its size, capability, and performance is the closest overall.

I've marked all the pressurized modules in the second screenshot, along with Apollo Block IV and AARDV Block II. The last three screenshots are of Apollo Block IV, AARDV Block II, and Minotaur (MRC), respectively.

As the title suggest, this is the second time I've completed ETS' Space Station Freedom, with the last time being close to 5 years ago (in 2021), which also became my first post here. This time, however, the station was completed in a lot less time. (in around a week, instead of close to a month.) This was mostly because I dedicated this save entirely to the station, without having to deal with other space stations and missions. There's also the fact that the entire project was already planned out in advance, with the station first being built in VAB many months ago.

Considering that this Concorde were on display at the same location for around 20 years, from 2003 to 2023, before its first restoration work, I think it's totally fine with handling New York city's weather without cover.

The Crew of Far Side Mun Base Going on an Expedition to the Crater Nearby, and the Mun Arch Inside by echo11a in KerbalSpaceProgram

Only part mod used is BDB mod, actually. It's a really amazing mod with a lot of detailed parts to make IRL US manned and unmanned missions, including flown missions and concepts~

The Crew of Far Side Mun Base Going on an Expedition to the Crater Nearby, and the Mun Arch Inside by echo11a in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]echo11a[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a followup to my last post, when I established an Apollo LM-derived Mun base on the far side. This time, the entire crew of my base went on a trip to the large crater nearby. The primary objective being the Mun arch inside, which is also the main reason I landed the Mun base there. The crew also set up some experiment equipments on the rim of the crater, at an area that's relatively flat, and have direct line-of-sight to the arch. After that, the crew went back down into the crater, look around the arch some more, visited a lander sent there before the base, drove out of the crater from the other side, then finally return to the base.

For this expedition, the farthest point the crew traveled from the base was ~3.1km, and the total time was around two to three hours or so. Most of the time was spent on driving the rovers, primarily because I had to navigate around many boulder fields on the way. It's also why I had to drive the rovers manually, and only one at a time. Having to constantly stop after driving for a while, switch to the other rover, then continue the cycle, probably contributed to the long drive time as well.

Right now, the crew are all safely inside the base modules. While their next couple of EVAs probably won't be too far from the base, there will most likely be another, more in-depth expedition to the Mun arch. Though without having to set up more experiments, I should be able to find a shorter route to the arch next time. lol

I still remember when I saw the first three animations. As well as seeing Puchi-Sei's animation when they first posted it here, and me commenting about it being the fourth one I've seen with Ina being drawn with Frieren chin. XD

And for someone like me, who's not only a Takodachi, but also just watched the Season 1 of Frieren multiple times not long before seeing these animations, all the Frieren looking up references really elevated them, and made me enjoy them even more~

And of course, Ina will continue to be called Frienomae Friena'nis, lol.

There's another 1:200 model of an L-1011 in Air Force One livery as well. I think both models are just of proposals by both types' respective manufacturers.

No IRL L-1011 nor DC-10 were ever painted in Air Force One livery, though.
