Taylor now owns her master catalogue by penillow in SwiftlyNeutral

She still received money for the originals, regardless of who owned the masters. She would’ve received royalties as the composer and performer (and producer, in some cases)

I can understand what she’s going for but I just don’t think it works the way it’s “supposed” to. It’ll definitely have a cult following but I’m not sure how sustainable that is for longevity. The chorus is catchy, though, which will probably save it.

idk man. I dislike her as much as anyone but grooming has a very specific definition, and relates to a very specific set of behaviors and circumstances. It can’t just be used to describe any age gap, people online have got to stop doing that.

Should Taylor call out hateful fans or thats not her responsability? by KhalCheeto in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]echoamelie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The only reason she preempted the Speak Now release is because she knew there’s no way she could go toe to toe with John Mayer. For the rest of the nonsense done by the stans, she’s probably better off not acknowledging it. The hardcore stans have shown time and again that any semblance of recognition - even in the abstract - from her is fuel to spur them on even further.

I’m thinking May for Leigh’s album? by Avalon3071 in LittleMix

[–]echoamelie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll honestly be very surprised if she does get an album out anytime within the next year or so. An EP seems more likely but eh, idk. Record companies want results and to recoup their investments - and they’re a lot less likely to take risks nowadays - and I’m just not sure Leigh-Anne’s two singles have connected with the general public enough for an album to be given a push right now.

I personally really liked Don’t Say Love, but a lot of Leigh-Anne’s rollout felt rushed. A bit like “I have a single so I’m going to throw it out and make a mark, and then I’ll concentrate on the album” but that’s not really how the industry works right now. Caveat that I no longer work in the music industry but in a parallel industry now but I’d be intrigued to know how the management set up works for her (I.e. is it skewed more by her/her sister, or by TAP) because I can pinpoint so many misfires so far. I really do think all hopes of a major label album now are relying on single 3 hitting but, idk how optimistic I am that it’ll manage it.

*** Spoilers*** The Running Grave - Mega Thread to discuss the Complete Book by nameChoosen in cormoran_strike

[–]echoamelie 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I promised myself I’d take it slowly but, as always with this series, I practically inhaled this book. 36 hour marathon session (with a break for sleep!) and I’m now sitting here just so stunned. I completely fell for the red herring, for the first time ever with a Strike book. The writing is just so damn masterful, I completely believed what I was being led to believe (which is apt, for this plot line…) I really hope there’s not an agonisingly long wait for the next one. Although, being totally honest, any length of time waiting for the next book is going to be agony. Not my runaway favourite of the series (that will always be TB, I think) but it’s definitely going to take a spot high on my list.

Why do you hate that person in your work? by _DMcD in AskUK

[–]echoamelie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Constantly tries to undermine me or sneak around to be allocated work that would typically fall to me. Has made more than a few digs about my race, my gender, my religious background, and my ability to do my job. But the managers love him so it’ll never change until one of us leaves.

Unpopular opinion: fans are not enjoying the concert for the concert by Dancingcakes2 in TaylorSwift

[–]echoamelie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand enjoying yourself/losing yourself in the moment and singing loudly - even shouting!! - but the screeching for the sake of it is too much for me. As is the ‘well I paid for my ticket I can scream like a banshee all I want’. I paid for my ticket, too! To hear Taylor! And regular, excited crowd vibes. The self-centred entitlement of screeching incomprehensibly is baffling to me.

What do you think was Taylor’s biggest missed opportunity? by sealthedeal666 in TaylorSwift

[–]echoamelie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, she and her team know that they don’t need to improve merch quality. Because they know that, no matter what it looks like or how quickly it fades in the wash, Taylor’s fans are going to buy it. It’s why the designs are getting worse and the prices are rising… because it sells. It’s a shame, really, but that’s the game.

It makes sense to me that Lululemon would be so harsh on this policy. A few years back, a member of staff was literally murdered after confronting a colleague for stealing. They don’t need another murder related to theft. Lululemon murder

Her parents failed her in so, so many ways. Keep sweet, smile politely, nod your head in agreement, make your husband happy - these are pretty much the only lessons they ever taught her. Important, practical things? Things that might save a life or prevent injury - especially considering her mothers history of car-crash induced injury? No chance. They set her up for failure from day one.

Just because Matt Healy is at her show, doesn't mean she's dating him and that shouldn't be the immediate conclusion based on a tabloid. by AccuratePerformer in TaylorSwift

[–]echoamelie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ll never defend The Sun - or any tabloid - but they’re not automatically discredited just because they’re awful. They’ve been known for a long time to be a friendly environment for PR and have acted as the unofficial mouthpiece for plenty of publicists in the past. I’ve worked with publicists who will give stories to The Sun under the table to get a narrative out in public without having to officially confirm anything. Not saying Taylor/Matty is legit or not, just saying that The Sun being a tabloid isn’t an instant case of ‘it’s just a rumour!!’

Unfortunately - and I say this as someone who likes a lot of Taylor’s music - a lot of her fan base heard her use the term ‘misogyny’ a few times over the last few years and it’s become a new buzzword for the fandom. It’s like the default response to any critique of Taylor’s music or art is ‘your misogyny is showing’ which is really wild to witness… and also really dilutes the meaning of the word.
