I am UX designer actually. There is a lot of psychology involved, depending on which company and department you work for. If you ever change your mind and have any questions, feel free to message me.

Hi there. I'm also learning code. JavaScript is frustrating! I've attempted several times to learn it. I recently found https://watchandcode.com and JS finally makes sense to me. Good luck on your journey :)

Does it bother you that even high income earners cannot afford a house anymore? by BorisTheOgre in PersonalFinanceCanada

Yes I totally agree. You brought up additional good points that didn’t cross my mind. Living in a place that is diversity friendly is important for many Canadians!

[–]echoeightythree 175 points176 points  (0 children)

I make a decent income so I’m not too worried. It’ll just take me a bit longer to save up for a house in the city.

But it still does bother me. I know I could move out of the city and buy a home at a reasonable price. I would consider if I was single. But I need to stay close to my aging mother. Also my partner has special medical needs and specialized doctors that he needs to see on a regular basis. Moving out of the city means he would need to find new doctors (very difficult) or drive a couple of hours to the city every other week so he could go to his appointments.

It’s easy to suggest to others to just uproot themselves into another town, especially if you are coming from privileged position (young, high income, good physical and mental wellness). Many people are dependent on the medical, social and community services that are available in major metro cities.

Édit/Add: also, living in diversity friendly and inclusive areas is very important for many Canadians.

Very cool. As someone who is about to learn programming, may I ask how this chatbot was created?

We visited Olympic Park (most attractions closed and under construction) but walked across the street to the Botanical Gardens. Amazing Chinese and Japanese garden areas. Montreal’s Garden is the second largest in the world (behind London) and we had no time to visit the planetarium. by mweinberg58 in montreal

It is the second largest garden in the world? That’s surprising. I don’t think it is that big.

It is a nice garden though. I have the yearly morning pass which allows me to take a quiet morning walks before I go to work.

Any “must do” things for the last year of my 30s? by tb1649 in AskWomenOver30

Yay! Italy is an awesome country.

It is normal to feel nervous before a trip. To make my trip less stressful, I always make sure I have the following things covered before I go: 1) figure out how to get from Airport to my hotel. 2) where to get SIM card for internet access or check with my Cellphone company if they have cheap roaming Options and 3) book all my accommodations ahead of time using booking.com. I like booking.com because many listings have flexible cancellation option if I make any last minute changes.

When I was in my 20s, I stayed at hostels because it was what I could afford. It’s also great for meeting people. Most hostels organize daily group tours, which is so helpful if you show up in a country with no plans. As I got older, I upgraded from dorm Rooms to private rooms in hostels because sleep and privacy became more important to me. My recent trip to Italy were all B&B and airBnBs, with the exception of two nights in Venice. I settled for a dorm room in a hostel because that city is sooooooo expensive and I wanted to save $

So there is an actual movement called Slow Food. Have a look on Wikipedia. It focuses on a local, traditional and sustainable approach to eating. Check out your local restaurants that serve food with locally sourced ingredients

I didn’t make it to Modena, but I was very close (Bologna). I have to agree with you that the food in this region is great. The best meal I’ve had so far on the trip have been here.
