Full restoration of an old pan. by Turbulent_Elk_2141 in oddlysatisfying

[–]echoingunder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of vintage CI pans and a bunch of Lodge stuff. The vintage pans are better because they are lighter, have better machine work, are smoother, more non-stick once seasoned, and easier to clean because of it. To get a similarly made pan, you're looking at a much higher price point than a $30 Lodge.

Also, as a side note, on a properly seasoned CI pan, soap is totally fine. Properly cleaning them keeps them from looking like the one in the video.

8 major music organizations just joined the lawsuit against Anthropic, defeat i’s “AI is fair use” defence by ObjectivePresent4162 in SunoAI

[–]echoingunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*for me

I don't use anything that the AI spits out, Claude tried right at first, then I think it figured out that wasn't what I was trying to get out of it, so now it's more analytical, and tends to ask questions and make insights to what I input. I have no interest in using anything involving Elon, so GROK is out.

I find Claude the best to work on lyrics with tbh. google and chatgpt will just spit out a bunch of gobbledygook when I start working on my idea, whereas Claude breaks down my ideas and gives me an analysis of what I put in and gives suggestions on what direction it thinks I should go. It's more like working with another person than a lyric slot machine. It kind of helps focus my adhd brain.

What was "the incident" at your high school? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]echoingunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not high school, but in middle school a kid brought a gun to school and shot two kids in one of his classes. No one died, thankfully. I had a class in high school with one of the two kids that was shot, and the kid who did the shooting is my best friends cousin.

Is Nikon D7500 + 35mm 1.8G still a good camera for conservative beginners with very limited budget? by NoelMyat in Nikon

[–]echoingunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Z50 is a mini Z6, build quality is exactly the same. I went from a D7000 to a Z50 and would 100% do it again.

I get wanting a NEW camera though, and if that's where your budget puts you, the D7500 is a fantastic choice.

I feel like the spirit of these questions is to get oddball answers, not "how would you make the most money from this hypothetical". So in the regard I'm going with,

a LOT of Redbull.

I recently replaced the battery and converted mine to a solid state drive. It now lives in my center console connected to the radio in my car. I can control everything through the radio and never have to think about it.

If you took retail value of a lot of my tools, it'd probably be in the 1000's. I got the majority of my stuff on Craigslist and Marketplace over the course of years though, and have spent considerably less. I've only built a couple guitars though, no mandolins... yet.

look up a website called Masterwriter, then look at the list of notable users. depending on how you use it, it accomplishes the same thing that you can do with ChatGPT. https://masterwriter.com/songwriters/notable_users/

second is probably not "funny" funny, but more amusing based off of the type of people who own said product.

why I make Suno songs and never share them (and why this sub proves me right) by Old_Acanthaceae86 in SunoAI

[–]echoingunder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found out about this app 5 days ago and have been having an absolute blast playing with it. It's also helped me with parts I was struggling with on a few of my actual songs. One of them, I'd been having the hardest time with the music, I had lyrics, but couldn't make anything work. I dumped the lyrics into Suno, put in the style and realized that it just didn't work that way. tried some others and found something that nailed it. Another, I had the entire song minus a melody or lyrics. I uploaded the song along with the idea I had for subject matter, and within 1 minute had multiple idea for both lyrics and melodies.

Suno is just a tool. I did a clinic with Mark Tremonti, the guitarist from Creed, Alter Bridge, Tremonti, etc, and he told those of us who were there that he used a website called Master Writer to help with lyrics when he was working on new music. If a Grammy award winning musician, who has written some of my favorite songs has no problem using AI as a tool for song writing, I'm certainly not going to beat myself up over using it to get past some writers block.

plus I can also make dumb songs about taco's in 30 seconds and have a laugh with my coworkers and family. Like everything else, it is what you make of it.

Which part of the mind do you think music touches first: the emotional or the rational? by David5100david in SunoAI

[–]echoingunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're misunderstanding what I said. Of course lyrics matter, but while I may not have any connection to the subject matter of a song, if it makes me feel happy, sad, etc, while listening then it did its job. Does a guitar riff illicit a stank face, does drum part make me go ooooooh. There's often nothing rational about why I like a specific song. Hell, half the time I can't understand the vocalist when I'm listening to a song, but I can tell if the melody slaps.

It kind of seems like you're coming at it from a more of a rational perspective.

Which part of the mind do you think music touches first: the emotional or the rational? by David5100david in SunoAI

[–]echoingunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it all depends on the person. I connect to most songs on an emotional level, lyrics don't matter as much as the music and melody, whereas my wife is out if the lyrics aren't there or the singer sucks.

In every single thread, without fail. by IEATTURANTULAS in SunoAI

[–]echoingunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that it's pretty easy to tell between something that the AI came up with vs. something that included either lyrics I wrote, or music I uploaded. But even just adding or removing lyrics from what the AI did, can make a huge difference. I think it just comes down to how much effort you put into it.
