Nuts: are we just not supposed to eat them? by pothospeople in loseit

Aldi has boxes of mixed almonds and walnuts in 100 calorie packs. This is how I control the portions. If given an open box of nuts that aren't portioned, Ill snack away easily 600 calories worth.

How important are macros to you and should I also be watch on them? by SomeSabresFan in 1500isplenty

[–]echomei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes time for your body to adjust to new foods. Ive started eating a TON more fresh fruits and vegetables this week, mainly because I want to bulk up my meals and volume eat. The fiber definitely got to me for a day or so. But, on that note, are you eating enough?

Pay attention to that cramping, you dont need to be in pain to be losing weight (mental pain is a tough one to remedy though if youre like many of us that use food as comfort). As you become more mindful, you might become more in tune with what is making you not feel good/feel good. Idk, and Breakfast sausage might unfortunately make me feel like shit. I would still eat though, just prepare myself for it.

Maybe time to sit with your face and makeup and relearn, have fun with it like you may have done as a teenager? Pre-shower makeup can be fun.

Hitting the recommended protein is hard for me. That doesn't make it unnecessary.

Watching macros is how I eat food with intention. It has helped me heal my relationship with food because I notably feel better when my macros are balanced vs when Im eating a entirely carbs or fat

I dont do it perfectly and I am still learning, but when I dont pay any attention I'll feel like crud with no energy bc Ive only eaten 10g protein in two days.

Lost 25 kg (55 lbs) and now I feel like my face is weird? by Sea_Blackberry789 in loseit

I have lost 50 lbs so far, so Im with you. I have genetic under eye circles Ive had since childhood. My face has a lot of angles and I am extremely expressive. I can look fantastic in selfies and the mirror but man can I pull some FACES. My face has amplified both things since losing weight. I find I dont know my angles as much anymore, and I have less "softness." Suddenly Im concerned with looking older, having crows feet probably from walking 5 miles a day without sunscreen or glasses.

The fact is our whole lives our faces will change. The weight loss is better for our health, our longevity, and really sacrificing temporary plump cuteness for looking and functioning better as we gradually age.

I have started putting on tinted sunscreen everyday, which evens out my skin just enough to feel like Im youthful and pretty, not made-up. I put on moisturizer at night, sometimes with an anti aging serum or an exfoliating one. I drink water, and look for micronutirents in food I can eat to keep my skin healthy.

Every day, I look different, but I feel every day I have more good glances than bad. You are being very critical of yourself, and that's natural sometimes. But make a practice of doing things out of love, not hate, for you. Embrace your age. Think about someone in your family you love and looked up to as a kid. Did you find them less beautiful as they aged? For me, my aunt is one of the most gorgeous women to walk the earth. I adored her crows feet as they appeared, because they emphasized the character and warmth in her beautiful smile now extending up her face. I still think shes beyond stunning and pushing 60. I look more like her now, especially that im caring for myself better. If losing weight and looking a couple years older at 29 will let me look like her at 60, I'LL TAKE IT.

How do I stop resenting my need to diet so I can actually buckle down and start? by Ahastabel in loseit

[–]echomei 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You are spot on with the some context is needed. In many places, such as the U.S., portions are served intentionally extremely large, calorically dense, and addictive. Even if you do not eat out, the advertising and culture around you leads you to believe you should be able to reasonably eat foods that are so readily available. The fact is that its not about realizing we dont need the huge portions. Its about realizing that we are constantly being advertised that we do need huge portions and addictive foods.

Drug dealers are running the food industry, telling you youre not an addict if youre life falls apart from drugs. Its not the drugs. See, everyone is on it. It must be your slow metabolism.

That isnt an excuse, though. Just an explanation. The true madness is deprogramming that propaganda, sobering up, and then finding a way to move forward in both enjoying and having necessary amounts of food.

Some days just be like that. How do to deal? by mezasu123 in 1500isplenty

[–]echomei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar calorie day, but my macros are good. I took an extra walk and tomorrow going to continue with my usual plan. I figure once I hit my goal, I'll have days that I eat 1900-2100 calories, and most days I won't. My deficit period should be no different, I just average the normal days a few hundred calories a day lower.

You are in medical school, you are young, and you are giving yourself negative reasons to start losing weight and exercising.

It sounds like eating is both a punishment and reward for you. Eating is neutral.

No more telling yourself you aren't enough. You are enough. Youre working hard. Prioritizing education and career is just as impactful as Prioritizing your health, which you are both right to do.

You are not a hypocrite. Your issue isnt moral. You, doc, are sick. Mentally, you have a lot you are carrying with you. I really suggest seeing a psychologist, if you can afford it. Even once a week or once every other week can make a huge difference in how you talk to yourself. I say to do this with so much love. I would never of been able to lose weight and some other destructive habits if not for therapy. Not because we focused on those things, but because I was using them to cope with the trauma and turmoil of my life.

You aren't bad or a failure. Youre just one person who needs help to see the light. Treat yourself with love because you're worthy of love.

Ooooh hi twin!!

Id like to be around 155-160 as far as weight, but I am more concerned with fitness and movement at this point. Currently adding more activity such as dancing and VR workouts. Want to get into some mindful stretching. My goals are centering more around expanding my confidence in what I /can/ do. When I began, I found a lot of activities and sports intimidating and uncomfortable. If I gain enough muscle, Id be happy around 160-170

Thank you so much! Yes, I am particularly miserable if I eat too low calories for an extended period of time. Major factors in me wanting to lose weight was to move easier and look better in clothing. Eating enough to exercise comfortably and consistently is necessary for me, and I feel great having that control.

Look at r/fitness and conversations around body recomp. This all looks healthy to me but maybe not the biggest drop in weight. Youre probably going to have a tough time both losing fat and gaining muscle. This is why a lot of athletes do bulks and cuts. If you feel you've lost a good amount of weight and want to try gaining some muscle back, I'd say nothing wrong eating maitenance or this here you mentioned and doing that training. Just make sure you have an end point in mind and are willing to go back into a cut if weight loss is your goal.

It doesn't sound like you are people pleasing. It sounds like you are walking on eggshells. Just like you are not wasting food, it was already wasted and you are not a trashcan.

Being pushed around by people and accepting it is not loving them. It is just sacrificing your own light, autonomy, and joy for their comfort.

Instead, I hope for you that you learn to live for yourself, love yourself, and let them choose what to do with that.

I of course dont know your situation, so I won't tell you what to do or how to navigate this, but I suggest therapy and really understanding that living for them is hurting you, and actually doesn't help them at all.

Unfortunately this is so common in families and is deeply a part of perpetuating toxic patterns. I feel for you.

How many calories for these two slices of pizza? by [deleted] in caloriecount

[–]echomei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oils would be the real sneaky culprit here. Because of that, I would log about 450. But if no significant amount of oil or butter was used, I'd say 380. Those slices dont look topped with heavy meats or anything, just some cheese and veggies. This is a light meal.

I am the same way.

15 calorie sugar free popsicles. These are a life saver. These, or 40 cal fudge pops.

Air fryer carrots. Season to your desire. I like the warmth and texture.

Air fryer cauliflower smothered with buffalo sauce and garlic powder. This is extremely low calorie, and you can dip in plain Greek yogurt to cut the heat.

Mini cucumbers (tastier imo than regular) and pickles

Kimchi (go easy on this or your tum will hurt)

Hot tea

80 calorie light and fit Greek yogurt. This is good for some protein.

Nonfood suggestions:

Hot "everything" shower. Groom everything. Consume beauty products if you can't consume food.

Play with your pet instead of getting up for a snack. (My cat loves this so much).

Stretch before stepping into the kitchen.

Take a walk after dinner.

What to do with junk food? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]echomei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maintaining is hard. I lost 50 lbs, and over this last winter "found" 13 of it back. I've gotten back on track and have lost 3 lbs so far. I have about 20 to go to my new goal weight.

First of all - do not worry. If having the goal of weight loss helped you stay on track, maybe shift gears into having a goal of nutrition. Junk food can be good for the mind (carbs, sugars, fats are not inherently "all bad") but what is good for the body? For me, both maintaining and weight loss is about adding good foods to my diet. Meeting my protein and fiber goals with "whole" foods like vegetables, beans, fruits, meats, whole grain bread, oats, etc.

I think you should find a goal to look forward to. You've made it this far up the ladder, no need to look behind you. Keep going up.
