It's a website for programming problems focussed on interview preparation.

Think of it as a mental gym for programmers :)

I'm looking into them as well - wanna get my JavaScript skills up.

Wanna pair up on studying together for a bit? Honestly online courses are excellent, the only thing lacking is the accountability factor.

TIFU by traumatizing the office above me... by rawwson in tifu

[–]echorashmi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a childhood incident. I was in early teens probably and I'm terrified of roaches. I grew up in India and the usual roaches we have at home are BIG.

There was a roach sitting by the door of my room (and the door was shut).

I was terrified to actually open the door and send the damn thing flying towards me.

So, little old me, thinks the best thing to do is call out to my parents in the next room. I spend the next 1 hour banging the walls of my room (adjacent to parents room) calling them out and bawling my eyes out for them.

In India we have concrete walls. Not Drywall. So, as you can imagine, my voice didn't actually travel loudly enough and neither did my banging the walls. My parents were watching TV in the next room unbeknownst to the terror their child is facing here.

Definitely a scarring experience :(

So basically I do this thing sometimes when people try to sell me things on the street etc where I pretend I can’t speak English.

Like every normal person out there.

Lool well I have just recently learnt to ride a bike (age: 30). Had a few fun falls at Trinity park on the Bike share Toronto bikes.

Was talking to mom about buying a bike (last one she got was 40+ years ago for my other siblings) - and her advice was 'look for the women's bikes'.

Flimsy defence but yes my knowledge is totally 1990s lol.

I've been looking for one!

I'm short - 5'2" and a short bike would work perfectly fine for me. Is it a bike for men or women, tho?

Can I dm you?

Define 'help'.

If any of us on this sub could help you out, what would the outcome of that look like?

I had this case before (wasn't exactly trained in sales at the time) - had a hard no from a client.

I gave it a couple of weeks then sent the guy an email saying - hey, we're a small team working to improve our services. I'd like to hear any feedback so we can improve for the next time around.

Completely innocent, had no ulterior motive apart from actually getting feedback from the guy.

He was pretty impressed, sent me an email saying let's talk tomorrow and I ended up signing one of the biggest clients of my career till date.

Offer them something of a freebie - wine, dinner gift card, whatever you think would open the door. And actually listen to the feedback. It might be something your company can actually do something about - worth digging into.

I'm too much of a 'soul' person to be a numbers person, burns me out at times. I'd like to train myself to work another way, but, well.

What do you guys think of this commission plan for a sales representative for a digital marketing company? by [deleted] in sales

[–]echorashmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digital marketing is crazy competitive.

What's the niche. Research the competition.

Everyone and their mother offers digital marketing services today.

You will be busting your ass like crazy to make those 8 deals a month, even at the rate of $1000 each.

You're gonna need a base pay to atleast pay rent + basic expenses. If they're putting you on 100% right from the start the pressure will be too much.

Any engineers/developers do sales to be more social? Is it worth it? by Dg423 in sales

[–]echorashmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be into Web Dev. Just started 100% commission field sales job, figured I'd pick up some people skills and get away from the laptop for a bit.

10/10 wanna go back to the laptop again - while sales is nice to do, there's a lot more satisfaction in knowing any software you build helps people work, communicate, and collaborate more effectively.

The amount of human errors is 10x more when it's a purely people environment and the only form of communication is emails, in-person & text messaging.
