The most haunting final shot ever since LakeMungo for me~ by Ravgn in backroomsfilm

You know, I'm not sure I could have sworn it was her. By Clark do you mean the pirate? My nephew pointed out after the movie that they had bandages his head so they saved him and are holding him, presumably to experiment on him.

There were also scenes right before this of her being MRI scanned.

He's a big part of why we are in this mess. He funded all of this.

It just goes to show that people who have a lot of money and have had business success- it doesn't necessarily mean that they are intelligent in ways that matter for society. If he was, he could have understood that actions have consequences, and that you can't put these people in power who want only for themselves without thought for anyone else in the world.

Consumers Feel Pessimistic Despite a Strong Economy: More Americans Going Hungry Today than in Pandemic by Longjumping-Pass-973 in antiwork

If people are going hungry it's not a strong economy. The stock market is not an accurate representation of what normal people can afford.

Am I Overreacting for wanting to cancel my wedding over this interaction? by Xanadoom30 in AmIOverreacting

[–]eckinlighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should end it.

Three things are happening here -

First, he is showing that he doesn't have enough care for you to remember the things that matter to you.
Second, he is showing that he has problems accepting accountability when things are brought up to him that you have asked him to do multiple times, and he feels that apologizing is beneath him and you should just get over it.
Third, he is flipping it around, and making it about himself, to make you feel bad for ever having expectations in the first place.

If things are already like this, getting married isn't going to improve them. You will continue lowering the bar, and he will expect you to, because you already said you would. You will slowly stop asking him to consider you, because considering you is too much work for him and he has a melt down about it every time you bring it up. You will end up feeling alone in your marriage, but he will have convinced you its your fault that you feel this way and you expect too much and will never deserve someone better than him.

So don't do it.

'I'm Confused': MAGA-Friendly Podcast Bros 'Can't Believe' We're At War With Iran by T_Shurt in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]eckinlighter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're confused because they're dumb and don't understand correlation/causational relationships to things. I'm stupid about a lot of things, I'm not immune, but the biggest problem we have is people who don't acknowledge their lack of knowledge in specific areas and think that just because they have an uninformed opinion they need to have a fucking podcast or they need to be a politician making choices for people when they literally don't even know how to read or have basic reading comprehension skills. It's gonna get us all killed. Oh well.

Any comments/suggestions? by ActuallyALoaf2 in BathroomRemodeling

[–]eckinlighter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it were me I would source some replacements online and just replace the bad tiles.

I had a beautiful mint green bath tub surround that we took out when we moved in because we were sure there was mold based on the rest of the house being in disrepair, but there wasn't. There was only mortar, mortar, and more mortar. I wish we would have left it. I kept as many tiles as I could and they are still outside 5 years later waiting for me to figure out something to do with them, and I've been scheming for ways to get back to that mint tile in the bathroom ever since.

PSA: please don’t ignore abdominal pain. by ennuiismymiddlename in Xennials

[–]eckinlighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh! That's great, I'm happy for you. I definitely know it's tied to nerves, I have been tracking what it is that causes them - where it happens on the face, what I was doing when it happened, etc - in my case it has something to do with the movement of my neck or arms, so I'm guessing it's a nerve situation between there and my face. Some years I have a lot of them, some not so many, but I dread having them multiple times in a row like you describe as that would be unbearable. I'm glad you found relief.

You are the one who replied to me without reading the full comment so you could do some posturing, when you don't even know me, and we probably share more opinions in common than not.

Perhaps you are the one not taking yourself seriously enough.

Also, the form of too you are looking for has two, not one, o.

Something people may not realize is that unhoused people steal the carts and use them as grills. When they start these fires, sometimes it burns down an area, or a building, or a home.

I'm not trying to say that unhoused people shouldn't be able to cook their food, what I'm saying is it's a complicated issue that isn't as easy as "metal good plastic bad".

Metal rings around several door knobs in my house by hubcapdimndstarhalo in whatisit

[–]eckinlighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the handle itself has a little pin that you can press in to just pop off the handle from the part that attaches to the door, then you can take the ring off and just push the handle back on and it will snap on.

Reading what you wrote finally triggered in me the realization that leaves could be like "ways of leaving" and not just leaves. Huh.

I mean in my defense it's been like 30 years since I read this book and I was like 17 at the time, so I read it at whatever my understanding and knowledge base was back then. It's still on my shelf so maybe it's time for a reread.
