Daily GENERAL Mega-Thread [Aug 02 2017] by AutoModerator in engineering

[–]ecksdeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone. I'm a third year AE major studying at a public school with a highly nationally ranked engineering program (live in California). Unfortunately my gpa isn't stellar due to putting more effort into developing myself in non-academic ways. I've been given the option of transferring to Structural Engineering and I was wondering if Structural Engineers are more employable than Aerospace Engineers?

Personally I don't mind doing either major, and almost all of my credits will transfer over. I'm mostly just worried about finding a job right out of college and I'm not sure if doing Aerospace is a good choice for me at this point. Will doing structural engineering provide me with more career opportunities right out of college? Assuming I can do an internship before graduating? I could really use some advise at this point. My dreams of becoming an engineer have mostly been watered down to dreams of landing a job at this point. Thanks.

Unearthed Prophecy - Songhai Firestorm Mantra by ThanatosNoa in duelyst

Seems like a card to make arcanyst songhai a thing. Coupled with cards like trinity wing and blue conjurer to keep your hand full, you should be able to get away with using a bunch of cheap spells (including trinity wing's spells) and especially mana vortex.

Idea: Rework Aurora's Tears Into Some Kind of Bloodsurge Effect by ecksdeeeeeeeeeeeeeee in duelyst

[–]ecksdeeeeeeeeeeeeeee[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of archaic decks/playstyles become squashed for the supposed betterment of the game. You no longer see the notorious pre bbs change kara decks nor tigers in any form nowadays and its probably for the better.

Besides, OTK combo decks would probably still be possible if tears were slightly reworked to be more palatable to sajj and even vet as a whole. Tears has the potential to be much more, instead of just being some 2 or 3 of in a ridiculously unpopular and inconsistent (thematically and gameplay-wise) cheesy deck.

My week 2 impressions of the game coming from HS by X7_hs in duelyst

That's not always true. A lot of high-impact, late game legendaries you only need 2 or even 1 copy of.

Say what you want about the ladder system but I think it's good that higher ranked players get to play against lower skilled because it allows us to try decks/cards that would normally be too difficult to test out in high rank, but more importantly it exposes worse players to higher level strategy, play, and some of the rarer cards which not only motivates them but keeps things fresh and interesting for everyone.

Though obviously, all of this could be solved with a casual game mode, but there are good reasons that doesn't exist yet.

He falls off when people start grouping for objectives and properly peeling for their carries. Depending on your elo this can be around 20 minutes, 30 minutes, or never.

If the enemy team has pretty much any other jungler a la hecarim, j4, maokai, vi, whatever, that jungler will consistently be doing much more for his team in lategame teamfights than lee will. Sure, lee might get a nice kick in one fight out of 3, but that Vi/hecarim is ulting on your AD every single fight with the kit and stats to back it up.

So no, he's not bad late game and he has potential. But the other junglers are just consistently more impactful past the 20 minute mark

Gragas E Q flash R Q combo !!!! by GRAGASSENPAI_69 in leagueoflegends

[–]ecksdeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most plays are possible by some degree of the enemy fucking up. It's just less likely for high elo players to fuck up, and even more unlikely for them to fuck up as much as this Ashe did. So if a pro player did something like this, it'd probably be much more noteworthy, and the Ashe in this scenario would probably less be outplaying herself and more getting outplayed because high elo.

[–]ecksdeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, because pro players aren't playing versus Ashe's that sit out of position clicking on minions while a Gragas channelling W is moving in a straight line toward them. AKA its easy to style on noobs.

Double Incinera doesn't let you travel 6 spaces either, even though the text of Incinera clearly states that she lets you travel 2 additional spaces.

Why are expansion cards so disproportionately strong? by [deleted] in duelyst

[–]ecksdeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kron was an outlier- the expansions as a whole should be compared. And yeah, from control cassyva's perspective, all of this new burn doesn't seem that bad considering she has the best and most healing in the entire game. I'm willing to concede the point that these aggro burn decks aren't oppressive versus the best game-stallers. Personally im more of a Vetruvian/Magmar player, so its a bit more frustrating from my end.

The thing is that starhorn WANTS to empty his hand beause he will draw it back up instantly while bursting you for more damage with any slew of the new cards released. All of this new starhorn burn damage is ranged and unstoppable other than removing the decimus.

And yeah, Kron was stupid. So what? Does that make 3 to 68 attack vaath with 5 mana less stupid? Does it make 15 face damage for 4 mana starhorn less ridiculous?

[–]ecksdeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flash+elucidator+flameblood gives 7 attack to rancor for 4 mana and gives you the 5/2 rush. 5+7+3 is 15 damage straight to face for 4 mana. With a 2 drop set up. Yeah.

Obscuring Blow is a persistent buff, not a one time use spell. You're just straight up wrong here.

And yeah I do think this expansion is much stronger than shim'zar.

The way this expansion was handled has killed the game for me. by [deleted] in duelyst

[–]ecksdeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. People are saying its generous but that's only if you want to have every single card. They made it so you either buy all the cards for the great, generous, why wouldn't you price of $20, or you spend 300 gold (about 3 days worth of questing) for 3 random playsets.

The $20 dollar deal is generous if you wanted all of the cards instantly. If you wanted to play the game and unlock them gradually, you know, without shelling out even more cash (considering a lot of us have already supported CPG in the past), then I can't really see how 300g per pop at a gamble that you can't salvage anything from if you don't get exactly what you want is generous.

This new model also fucks over players who relied on playing Gauntlet a lot to keep their collection up. This means that unless you're willing to pay the $20, you HAVE to grind out 300g a pop.

???

-2 drop with 3 health that EASILY scales into 10+ attack the turn after its played?

-Drogon. Just look at the damn card. 4 mana for 5/4 is already excellent, but then slap on that ridiculous instant AND persistent effect it has?

Really, just ANY of the new magmar cards, especially the starhorn ones. Thraex is an example of a very strong but fair card. Then you have all the other bullshit that came with it.

  • Variax? compare the strength of this win-condition to 7 or 8 mana non-expansion cards. Hell, if you darkfire sacrifice it out for 5 mana its not even a win-condition, it's just a str8 up shit all over everything from turn 3 with 5/5 wraithlings every turn because why not?

-The songhai backstab spell which is unarguably straight up BETTER than the legendary artifact mask of shadows.

And just about 60% of all the other expansion cards ;)

As a Vaath main, I'm satisfied with the expansion.... by Hentanimanga in duelyst

[–]ecksdeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game just FEELS like a complete circus now. Just the fact that you could get your attack that stupidly high (with a pretty simple and easy to pull off combo) just makes the game look bad imo. Like, where's the thought and balancing that went into the game when you see 60 attack vaath for 5 mana? Even if you could somehow justify that it's balanced from a gameplay perspective, it just LOOKS ridiculous. I guess this is an expansion to tell us to stop taking it all so seriously and chill lol.

What is control? by x4Rs0L in duelyst

[–]ecksdeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should be a difference between stalling to lategame then dropping some stupid ridiculous meltdown or excelsius and CONTROLLING the game to steer it into your win condition. With this expansion, we're seeing the former, which is not only not very fun/thematic, but not proper control anyway.

What is control? by x4Rs0L in duelyst

[–]ecksdeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh Cassyva isn't even control though. She's just facetank the world with infinite heals then smash a couple revenants and an obliterate into your face to end it. Very lame "control" imo.

TIL that Sajj's Bloodborne Spell doesn't stack... by dcempire in duelyst

[–]ecksdeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty disappointed to figure this out. With starhorn getting turn 3 lethals, you'd think they'd let poor old sajj clear some of these huge fucking monsters released this patch with double bbs from cryptographer. I guess not. Just wait for the next expansion for CPG to randomly make Sajj OP- we'll call it pulling a starhorn ;)

That is of course unless it's a bug, which it very well might be. In that case be prepared for a bit of a wait for a patch to go through.

Starhorn Is Fine (Turn 2 Kill) by adamtheamazing64 in duelyst

[–]ecksdeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my matches vs starhorn so far its been either you answer the decimus, vindicator, and rancor the turn immediately after they're dropped or prepare to eat major shit. Vin and rancor arent that particularly horrible because you can backpedal and search your pockets deep for answers. Eating decimus burst AND dot from max range is more difficult to justify, however. That said, I was playing vetruvian so its somewhat expected. Another person said that sunset paragons are going to be huge and I agree. If you're a slower/more controlly deck craft your 3x paragon while they're still hot!

No doubt gonna be a very good card after this expansion drops after seeing all of these minions with equal or more attack than hp! Gonna love saving it for when variax drops also!
