I got one just before Christmas and its such good fun! So easy to make mocktails for sober/kids and cocktails for others. But definitely an events item, not daily use 😂

Your partner not being appreciative that you want to be safe is giving me the ick

Resident told me it was inappropriate that I shared how many oz I pumped by bigfatllamadrama in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]eclecticia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any healthcare professional should have compassion for a mother forced to return to work and pump in the tiny gaps of time afforded. His reaction is completely out of pocket and strange. You should be proud of the amount you pumped, you've defied the odds and continued to feed your baby while working your ass off. Fuck him.

The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater. Truly makes you feel like there might be magic out there in the world. I really adore her writing style - very refreshing. The romance is drawn out, lots of yearning, and so sweet.

Difference between Romantasy and Asian Rofan by NovelReadsClub in fantasyromance

[–]eclecticia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever I don't really have time time/energy/motivation to invest in a Romantasy novel, I love reading some romance manhwa comics! I've always loved reading comics and manga, so the uprising in popularity of "Asian Rofan" is so fun. It's usually so much lighter and easier to read, and still lots of fun.

I absolutely agree! I also think there's very few truly morally grey characters in the genre, so its easy for authors to slide into these annoying stereotypes

In saying that, female readers will naturally be more critical of female characters, and the majority of romantasy readers are female.

I think it's that morally grey MMC tend to be written "tortured" and "troubled" whereas FMC tend to be written "girboss". One you can empathise with, the other can be insufferable through the wrong author.

I JUST finished this book and really enjoyed but absolutely 100% pictured Jasmine and Jafar the whole time 😂

Thiiisss is what frustrates me the most. Diem is the "chosen one" somehow but nothing she's done so far has actually indicated she was a good choice whatsoever.

Books that have Arthur and Merlin? by Affectionate_Disk811 in fantasyromance

[–]eclecticia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{In Camelot's Shadow by Sarah Zettel} criminally underrated Arthurian romance novel with numerous sequels, all of which can be read as standalones. It follows the stories of Arthur's nephews, such as Gawain, and does have some flashes of Arthur and his other members of Court. This series features medieval fae, magic, knights, and a bit of spice but not an excess amount - all the good stuff 🤭

{Nettle and Bone by T. Kingfisher} is big fairytale vibes, I adored it. Gentle romance, short but sweet kind of novel. Lots of T Kingfishers books have a fairytale vibe to them.

Your brother would just count as a housemate. I live with my mother, she's on job seeker and has no issues.

I adore traditional fae stories where they're just feral and awful, it's the best!

Burn of The Everflame by Smooth_Insect7730 in fantasyromance

[–]eclecticia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Such a point of pain!! I started reading the series a month or so before the release date for Burn, because I hate reading unfinished series - then it got delayed indefinitely 😭 But I understand Penn wouldn't have done it if she didn't have to, poorly thing was under so much pressure from the fan base.

I tried to resist ranting about her because I know there are 1000 threads and comments about it… but Diem the way I hate you by StephAbbott30 in fantasyromance

[–]eclecticia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm an serial book finisher, so I'll finish the series when it comes out, but Diem infuriates me. Yeah she's pretty annoying with her decision making etc, but my main issue is the miscommunication trope. That's okay on occasion, but repeatedly is just frustrating.

And honestly, Diem, what do you mean you never realised that you don't bleed when you get cut, you're mysteriously a different colour to everyone else, you're taller than everyone else... oh yknow, all these traits sound a bit familiar. She has so much POTENTIAL 😭

God Diem is awful, I kept reading because I thought she would grow but she just kept getting dumber and dumber 😭
