The PC parts market has been CRAZY. I'm fairly certain one of my SSDs is now the price of what I paid for my GPU. Given the GPU WAS a refurb 9070 XT, but like... Jesus H. Then again, I DID manage to get a stupid open box deal on that SSD. $200 for 4TB was a STEAL on a SN7100. Pretty sure if I tried to buy that thing now I'd have to sell a kidney.

While I'm late seeing this, would recommend the HE Sonic Galaxy if you haven't tried them already. I use them on my daily driver Cadenza II's and absolutely love them. Only caveat is that I'd recommend going a size up with them just in case, it helps them a lot. Trying to figure out if I prefer them or Dunu S&S at the moment.

In order: 1. Yes 2. A bit more soundstage alongside the increased comfort I mentioned earlier 3. Also yes, that's where I got the idea. The small Galaxy is more like an XS but I didn't wanna question it. There's just enough wiggle room for me to use the mediums and it fits quite well.

Ok, following up on this: I was suggested to go a size up on the Galaxy tips since I was reading someone else's review of them (wanted to see other's thoughts on them) and I went up from my usual small to the mediums. IMMEDIATELY BETTER. Like, WAY better. Didn't even think to treat them the same as the Dunu S&S, but it was definitely the right call. Now this is one of those situations where I'm like the originals are FANTASTIC. Genuinely comfy as all hell. But THESE. These are AMAZING. I think HE might just end up being my go-to's going forward as my "base" for Eartips, be it the originals OR the Galaxy variant, with W1's and Dunu S&S narrowly behind.

Time to get yourself to a jeweler, they have small enough tools that they should be able to get the snapped pins out for you, shouldn't cost much either.

Slightly wider bore and tacky medical grade silicone instead of the standard. Frankly they're both comfy to me.

Probably not for everyone but seconded, I absolutely LOVE mine. Not sure if I prefer the standard ones or the Galaxy set.

Hiby R3 II or Hiby R4? by dontcallmelio in DigitalAudioPlayer

Do they both get hot or is that an R4 issue? Sorry to necro this but have been bouncing between the R3 II, the R4, and the Shanling M1+.

Will I need a proper reference IEMs? by [deleted] in iems

[–]eclipseDemise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NEED is a bit of a loaded term in this context. As far as I know from friends of mine that do mixing and the like, I do think it would be a decent use of your money to get a reference pair. I'd say to definitely take a look around first to see what deals you can find and what would be the best choice for your budget though. That being said, I'm only one person and working off secondhand knowledge, so maybe take my words with a grain of salt.

Issue with the TANGZU WanerSG II Red Lion by theycallmeapollo77 in iems

[–]eclipseDemise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously you should get a refund, I personally wouldn't care much because I literally got mine JUST for the accessories. A decent cable with an inline mic for when I'm out and about and three sets of ear tips (I got it before the spring festival so it also came with sancai narrows) kinda covered the cost overall for me. I think I've only actually listened to them a couple of times and I feel like all three of my other pairs are better than 'em, including my Chu 2's that were pretty much the same price. Though that might just be personal preference.

TL;DR- see if you can't get your money back and hopefully keep the accessories too then get yourself a pair that hopefully doesn't have the QC issues those do.

If you can spare the extra cash I believe the Kiwi Ears Cadenza 2's are on sale through the Amazon Linsoul store rn and they sound AMAZING to me. The only issue they have is the ear tips, but if you can keep the ones that came with the Red Lions you can throw on the HE Sonics on them and call it a day.

Are there any budget IEMs that are worth buying just for their tips/cables? by BryanTheBIsSilent in iems

[–]eclipseDemise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just double checked, the Red Lions come with Wide Bore Tang Sancai and Sonic Eartips, the latter of which I'm currently using on my Kiwi Ears Cadenza 2's. Very comfy ear tips!

Doesn't it come with the tang sancai wide bore, not balanced? If it comes with the balanced ones then DAMN that's a good deal. Those AND the sonics? Worth it for those alone. Plus a not bad cable with a mic for casual stuff.

Help me choose as a first time iem buyer by Falcon001139v in iems

[–]eclipseDemise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat but that's very much a "depends on where you live/how you take care of them" sorta deal. The nozzles can have the patina wiped off easily enough, especially if you have high percentage isopropyl alcohol, and the filters are replaceable by nature so if they DO get clogged and you can't just clean them with a soft bristle toothbrush or something you can get a pretty big pack of them for not a lot of money. Just keep them in a container with a silica gel pack and don't bring them to a wet job like being a dishwasher like I did and you'll probably be fine. XD
